What's the difference please @Dovefromabove, between hay, silage and haylage - never heard of the last one. We have a farm near us and I often see the farmer take up bales of something to the cattle on the hills opposite.

Thanks @Busy-Lizzie, we didn't get to see so much of Southwold as I would have liked because of OH's bad knee/hip, walked along the pier (in very gusty/wet weather) then along to the lighthouse and bought packets of loose sweeties from an old fashioned sweet shop.  Unfortunately for me, he doesn't 'do' shopping or browsing so I didn't get to see the town centre.  I was very impressed with newish, very clean and swish public loos in the car park though.

@steephill, Helmingham Hall had a large herd of deer when we visited but too far away to photo well. We've had the odd one or two in the garden here but not lately. There's a stream with steepish banks between us and the wood they live in so they don't get over often.

    Good morning all.
    More rain overnight.
No smoke visible this morning , so I hope it's all over for my neighbours

    Good morning all 😊 ☕️

@Lizzie27 … it’s all to do with the moisture content … roughly … hay is cut then dried out in the fields needing sunny dry weather, and then baled ( either oblongs or nowadays big round bales) and tied with string … it has a very low moisture content and smells sweet and fresh.
Silage is cut in the fields then left to wilt a bit then gathered and stored in a covered clamp or wrapped in plastic … then it ferments a bit (imagine kimchi or sauerkraut for cows).  Haylage is a bit in between the two … if you want more info https://www.horsejournals.com/horse-care/feed-nutrition/hay-haylage-and-silage-whats-difference

    Well, you did ask 😂

Its a shame you didn’t see Southwold’s high street and market place … really nice clothes and homeware shops, delis, cafes and galleries and the wonderful Craftco founded by friends of mine (sadly no longer with us, but the cooperative they started goes on) http://www.craftco.co.uk/ and of course there’s always famous faces to see.

Did you go across the common to the harbour … magical …  the Harbiur Inn and the little rowboat ferry across to Walberswick … summer home of the famous and once an artists’ colony connected to the St Ives lot.  If not you’ll have to come back 😊

I used to live just down the road from Helmingham Hall. The old Lady T was a member of the same WI as Ma.

Morning Hosta. We are in between rain promises and reality here. It keeps clouding over, and then clearing up again. Washing on the line and I simply don’t care any more. It can stay out all night, if need be. 🙄

I've been listening to Tony Blackburn on R2. Every other song is from 1966 (yet  another shoe horn reference ) but I wonder how many songs from this year will sound as good in 55 years as those being played from 1966
    Devon.

OH often plays the Tony Blackburn Prog in the evening via BBC Sounds … despite all the music being from before he was born 😆 I must say it’s a lot better heard on modern equipment rather than my little red tranny or my friend Helen’s Dansette 😂

The clouds are still playing games with me and as it’s now nearly 5pm, the washing can stay out. I agree Dove, the washing can have another rinse. 😳

Morning all,  the threatened overnight rain,  didn't come,  hope we don't get it in the day or this evening.  We're supposed to be at a family gathering for the twins 18. They had a  garden party for their friends at the time but this is for us oldies.
