    Dan's comment about the dish created in his name by his local Indian restaurant made me laugh.  If people got all upset by his comment about the tape on his backside, God knows what they'll make of comments about Dansak, or Dan's sack!  I thought his partner's reaction of putting her hands over her face was brilliant.
  • Made me laugh too  @KT53
    @Dovefromabove 😉  I guessed you meant Tom.....but I did read it twice 😂

    I thought Tom's comments on Strictly Takes Two last night were interesting to say the least.  Saying that in his and Amy's opinion the judges got it totally wrong about the emotion required in that dance.  The character he was playing was pushing her away, so there was no reason to be showing the type of emotion the judges were complaining wasn't there.  They weren't able to argue the point when they were being judged but clearly weren't willing to let it drop.

    That is interesting. With couples choice being so subjective, maybe the couples should say a bit more about exactly what they are trying to portray. I think he was just saying how proud he was of his sister on the night - correct me if I’m wrong. I think couples choice is risky for this reason. It seems to have ceased to be much of an actual choice, and that suffering and  heartbreak followed by redemption seems to be the only acceptable theme. Dan got slated by Craig because his couples choice was too light, but why was that necessarily a bad thing? It’s not called couples trauma!

    I agree that there should be the opportunity for the reason for the Couples Choice to be explained.  Had that happened in this instance may be the scoring would have been different.
  • I agree, also,  we at home watching dont really know what to look for in Couples choice.
    We know about the straight leg in cha cha,heel leads in Waltz,shaping in Paso etc etc,but have nothing to compare otherwise. I preferred Tom and Amy to Tilly and Nik.
    It depends a lot on personal choice, and personally I would rather they did away with it.
    The whole truth is an instrument that can only be played by an expert.
  • I'm not keen on couples choice and would rather got rid of it too...... and went back to the old format before they introduced it.
    I preferred Toms dance to Tillys as well.  Still don't understand the judges score of 40 🤷🏻‍♀️

    I preferred couple's choice when there were a few styles to choose from, but freedom within those styles. Then at least part of the judging could be on how well it expressed that general style of dance. Now it's just random and seems to err toward the contemporary, bare feet, telling-a-story theme and often it seems to be the story itself that is being judged over the dance - I too felt it was unfair to criticise Dan's dance for not being deep&meaningful enough!

    I'm not sure I understand why they call it couple's choice as it seems to be just free style with no rules and hardly fair on inexperienced dancers, especially when their professional partners need to have outside choreography support.  I think they should stick with ballroom dances, Argentine tango, genuine salsa rather than the "show" rubbish we usually get and maybe, if they really must, couples choice from a limited range of recognisable dances such as Lindy Hop, Jazz, Contemporary, West Coast Swing....
