Scoring is subjective, but when you get one judge claiming a performance is wonderful and flawless when all the others have very different comments, you do start to wonder if they aren't quite as impartial as they should be. I'm not talking about this week particularly, just an overall observation.
I wonder how Dan's missus has taken his glowing references to 'the other woman' in his life. Saying 'she has turned the lights on' isn't terribly complimentary to his wife. It could be "Your dinner's in the dog" time when he gets home.

Yes I expect there'll be the odd 'cold shoulder' for a while.
We visit Sheffield most weeks and park outside a large house that I'm told is his home. You may recall the fly-by he helped to organise to commemorate the American pilots who lost their life in WW2. The park in which they crashed is behind his home.

My thoughts exactly @KT53 When Dan mentioned she'd turned lights on......it made me wonder what his wife was thinking at that very moment. I know I wouldn't have been very pleased to hear another woman had turned the lights on! 😉
I have really enjoyed Dan's attitude throughout his Strictly adventure and love the way he has embraced the new challenge each week and worked so hard to do well. I very much enjoyed his tango on Saturday and thought his leaving speech was gracious and generous. For someone who has never been a dancer or dreamed of being a dancer or performer, he's done extremely well.
I don't see why his wife would be offended or upset as he's behaved impeccably throughout and probably done his future career a lot of good. She may even want to learn to dance herself now and, since he's so mad about sports and bloody football, it may even be a sport/activity they can share.
As for the marking, if one of the judges points out a technical fault in a celebrity's performance I fail to see how any judge can give 10 points. maybe they need two paddles, like in ice dance - one for artistry and one for technique.

Its nice to read everyones take on it. Dan was lovely, what a nice man. Some fans of Dans were saying Kai changed the last lift, but I cant find a video showing the DO, it certainly looked much easier than in the first dance.
The whole truth is an instrument that can only be played by an expert.
In Dan's defence, there have been a number of occasions throughout the Strictly interviews where he seems to have operated mouth without engaging brain first. Highly amusing but at the same time having that "Did he really say that" element.
They may show a video of AJ and Kai's rehearsal lift on "It Takes Two " tonight @Valley Gardener. Last night they showed how John and Johannes ' lift was supposed to have worked. I have to say, Johannes styled out the ending very well after John threw him to the floor like "a sack of spuds" ! Having said that, if Kai did change it, they're probably going to keep schtum 😁
I suppose it depends on how quickly Kai thought AJ would be able to adapt to a change @Dovefromabove. The trouble with a lift like that coming right at the end of the routine is that it must be at the back of her mind the whole way through. Or maybe that's just me l know it would be preying on my mind, not that Kai would even contemplate heaving me into the air 😁.
I noticed Shirley saying that Rose 'tuned out' the noise but then when the judges were up with Claudia she obviously realised her mistake and talked about all the arm waving and visual clamour that Rose had tuned out Jeanette Manrara made a similar mistake on ITT not long ago - playing the song Rose & Giovanni were about going to dance to that week she asked how Rose felt when she heard that song. That was quickly glossed over too. In a way it shows how remarkable Rose is that the people around her can forget at times that she is deaf. I wondered about the 'leap of faith' between her and Giovanni on Saturday - it did seem as if she landed rather heavily - making a third clumsy lift on Saturday. Not sure if AJ's final lift was changed (it seemed to me that the second twist around was missed out) - or whether it simply worked the second time. I love AJ and voted for her. Loved the music for Dan's dance. Loved Rhys' Argentine Tango. I think the right one went out, I predict Rhys to go next time leaving John, Rose and AJ in the final. And out of those three I really don't mind which one wins - they are all fabulous.
