Well done Giuseppe! Oh, wrong show. Not sure about couple's choice - sometimes it works (Bill Bailey!) but mostly it's just the sort of flitting about my granddaughters used to do when they were little. I'm not so keen on the back stories, dedicating dances to dead grandmothers etc that is becoming more prevalent as SDC goes on.

I agree with both those points @didyw .... some of the 'dedications' are really too much for a sensitive stomach.
As for whether the competion should be open to folk with a bit of a dance background ... @WonkyWomble used to go to dance classes when she was a child ... many folk do nowadays ... and she and her brother belonged to a successful Children's Drama Club which gave several youngsters the opportunity to move on to performance-orientated careers .......... where are you going to draw the line?
And it does seem to me that the BBC is damned if it does and damned if it doesn't ... it gets slated for paying top whack to some of it's presenters in order to keep them with the BBC .... so it's found a way to 'bring on' new presenters/personalities ... increasingt their abilities and self confidence, raising their profiles and enabling them to develop their careers and increase their earnings in the future ... and now it's getting slated for that. It's hardly surprising that a proportion of people who are earning their living performing in one way or another have been to stage school.
As for the comments that arise each year when the contestants' names are announced ... e.g. Never heard of any of them, call them celebrities? etc .... now it seems that some folk are saying they'd rather watch nonentities ..... really?

I remember years ago a young chap (well, we were all young at the time) getting himself all worked up saying he was going to sell his story to the News of the World. We told him - but you have to be famous to do that. His response - "This will make me famous!". Of course that is exactly what happens now - non-famous people go on a reality show which makes them famous and they then appear on things like I'm A Celebrity and game shows as celebrities. Was Andy Warhol right? But that said, I do think that the contestants on SDC are actual celebs. And agree - dancing lessons as a child or teen might help but real talent will out.
I think it's good to have some variety of abilities in the early stages. At the end of the day it's the voting public who decide who's coming back the next week and if they spot someone who's obviously been trained, they'll likely take against them and vote them out.

There is someone who was "evicted" first from Big Brother, who has gone on to do very well for themselves in the Celeb world, I will never know why? It seems you have your 15 minutes of fame,be it good or not so good, and thats all you need. Thinking of all those people from TOWY, and one in particular who appeared on "Dancing on Ice" should have read " Stood on Ice" 😄
The whole truth is an instrument that can only be played by an expert.

There are many things I don't understand about the world of 'celebrities', but mainly how does appearing on something like BB make a person a celebrity in the first place. All they've done is sit around for weeks on end doing naff all. Secondly, what mindset has people being interested in what the Z listers are doing?
