I was surprised when it came to Shirley's vote, couldn't believe she didn't agree with the other 3 judges. But then again.......

Well.  the first objective of a judge is get noticed more by the public than any of the others.
If Greg's gone, are we to be lumbered  with even more naff programmes fronted by him?

Are you perhaps confusing Greg Wise with Gregg Wallace @Doghouse Riley ?

Greg's an actor, best remembered (by me at any rate) for playing Willoughby in the Beeb's adaptation of Jane Austen's "Sense & Sensibility".  Yes, he's not a great dancer & I agree it was right that he was voted off Strictly - but I can't really understand the loathing he's inspired in many on this thread... he's a bit "posh", maybe?  But he's done a lot for charity, and in addition he & his wife have adopted a Rwandan orphan, a former child soldier... go on, someone, tell me what I'm missing.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

Could be, is there any difference?
In that he seems as unpopular with some.
  • Nothing to do with being 'posh' ....although that didn't even cross my mind.
     He loves himself so much.

Totally agree … I know and love quite a few folk that might be regarded by some as ‘posh’.  (The obsession with class in the UK really should’ve been put to bed by now 🙄. )

For me it was the obvious under-appreciation of the work involved, lack of application and constant gurning to camera.

Many people without his advantages have shown that by hard work they can turn in a decent performance.  It looked to me as if he thought that it should come easily to him and when it didn’t he just didn’t have the personal resources needed to ‘work hard’.

@Liriodendron … I also don’t think it’s ‘loathing’ …. I think most people would’ve been pleased if he’d pulled himself together, knuckled down and done some hard work and turned in a half decent performance.

For me it’s been a disappointment that someone who could have done better showed so little regard for the hard work being done by his professional partner. 😞

Greg Wise when he was a little younger
    and Gregg Wallace the same

l agree @Dovefromabove, l suppose l was expecting a more "professional" approach from an actor who is presumably used to learning his lines and taking direction, even if dancing turned out not to be his "thing".

I think he's relied on his looks for far too long.  Film acting is a very different thing to 'live tv'.  With the former you get the chance to keep repeating it over and over until you get it right ... as I said before, live tv and sport takes a different sort of application ... you only get one chance.
