If  it doesn't work, I have a good recipe for kofta bhunas for mince (it's basically a burger with a few bits thrown in, done as meat balls). The meat balls are lightly fried, then cooked in a tomato and onion spiced sauce. The page in my Indian cook book may be a bit splattered though. Add that to a tarka dhal (red lentils simply cooked with a few spices, then fried (in ghee - clarified butter) onion/garlic/chilli added - and I like coriander in it, but my son is a Philistine, so I have to leave it out) and a bit of rice and you have a veritable feast.

I find with recipes that they just give you the idea and the rough cooking times - then once you've made it, you play and make the recipe your own anyway. So just play - see what you like - who really cares if it goes wrong once or twice? A bottle of wine soon washes it down anyway....

    kofta bhunas sound yummy.
Maybe I should write a cokkery book. " Cookery for those who have managed over 50 years without ever doing it"?

All the basics for burgers are here @Hostafan1

The only thing that can go really wrong is that they fall apart … in which case you obviously made seasoned mince, not burgers 😉

He's so cute Hosta! Can't help with burgers, I'm afraid, never made them.

Evening folks, hitting 29c here so the very chilled pink is hitting the spot. I've not done much today as rather tired after yesterdays clearing and packing. This morning I've been told the new carpets can't be done till 2nd July which is a bit of a pain, seeing as though we've cleared most of the house already.
Bit peeved also to wake up with an itchy rash on my face, courtesy of a new face cream I tried yesterday. Reported it to the company concerned, by god it was a very slow process, 20 mins at least on the phone and they want photos, receipts etc, etc.

That's going to be a very long drive @Busy-Lizzie but at least you will be able to relax on the boat, best wishes for the journey.
    Have a good evening everyone.

Evening. Enjoying my week off and have lucked-out on the weather.

If you do write that cookery book @Hostafan1 - I’ll need a couple of copies for a few family members (they know who they are).

I hope you are all well.

What a lovely little chap he seems.

Make a meatloaf - same ingredients 'cept baked in the oven. Slice it (hot or cold) with your favourite pickle, spuddies and a salad!

A good hoeing is worth two waterings.

Been another busy day. Went to the tip, did 2 loads of washing, hung it on line, went to the car wash and to fill the car, hoovered the house, changed the sheets on the bed. Two of my friends came round to see my house, and me, we had Pink Lady apple juice and banana fruit cake on the terrace in the shade. It has been a very hot day again, 38°.

You’ll need a rest when you get here @Busy-Lizzie 😆

We've been watching the most beautiful sunset fade away while a crescent moon appeared. Now I’m ready for bed … night night all … sweet dreams … 🥱

Hello all, I've managed to read back, but gosh what a lot to take in..... relentlessly busy here and still trying to keep the garden under control (probably failing).

Had a very long chat with a French man this evening, a farmer his whole life, never travelled outside the Limousine, simple view on life but actually perhaps more on track than most of us. Certainly made me question my driving force.

Also managed a zoom call with English friends, we should have been in Corfu last week together, all desperate for a seaview and a cocktail.... simple things that please us. Again, I question my motives.

Walked around the garden, some beautiful blooms, very satisfying, simple things.

Trying not to worry about the more complicated things in life. Easier said than done!

    Hugs to all.
