Night @Pat E and Good late afternoon to ......anyone who isn't outside enjoying the day.
Tied up and hoed/weeded tomatoes this morning before the heat, but had to abandon quest around 10am. So shuttered inside again, reading! By golly the bounty better be good next month - the heat is a killer!!
Have a pleasant evening everyone. This weather calls for a cold frothy drink!!
I don’t need to watch the footie … I could tell that we’d scored from the cheering across the way 😂 I’ve got the tennis on and the goldfinches are providing musical accompaniment 😎

'Perhaps we should draw a line on this discussion ... I'll end it by saying I'm with the late Jonathan Sacks when he said ".....'
I think I'd said what I wanted to say at least twice (as is my wont) - so you're right to draw a line...BUT (and there's always a but!)...and maybe this should be on the 'Is there a word that presses your button' thread (or maybe on the Curmudgeon thread), I really (personally - who else would I be talking for?) dislike constructs like that - where someone draws a line and then continues a discussion by having 'the last word'. Don't you find that annoying as well ? Said (typed) with a smile on my face....
I think you both make some valid points @steveTu@Dovefromabove but shall we call it a draw for now
I'm watching the tennis in between the football matches here. Reffed a game this morning in the sunshine. It was too warm for me to be plodding around but it's clouded over now. Unlike the rest of the world, it seems
Hope you have all been having a lovely time in this fab weather.
The wedding was great, only 30 people, which must have been difficult for the couple, but I thought was a lovely number. There were 2 ceremonies, an English civil ceremony and then a Muslim ceremony, our nephew married an Iranian girl. We then had a Persian meal, which was ace. Thought about you @Dovefromabove as the pub we stayed in, served Ghost Ship ale, very good it was. The pub was in Dedham, Essex, I don't know whether you know it.
How can you lie there and think of England When you don't even know who's in the team
Hello Punkdoc, that sounds amazing. I didn't even have 30 , people at my wedding.i still had a lot more yhan I wanted (care of interference from mother in law,)
Oh yes @punkdoc … that’s Constable Country, a beautiful part of the world … spent part of our honeymoon in Lavenham when I married Wonky’s Papa a very long time ago. You were only 15 minutes from @WonkyWomble’s garden and just over an hour from here. Glad you had a lovely time and enjoyed the Ghost Ship.
Much luck and happiness to your nephew and his wife. 😊
