Isn't he a cutie @Busy-Lizzie, you tend to forget just how small new borns are. I'm sorry your weekend had to be re-arranged and hope your grandson recovers soon.
That tarte sounds very morish @Dovefromabove but a bit too rich for me I think.
We took the car out this morning to fill up with petrol as OH has a long journey tomorrow and then went to Hilliers GC for MPC and gravel. I was a bit shocked at the increased prices - £20 for 3 bags so will have to start shopping around. Their cafe was still shut which was a disappointment as we had the car washed whilst we were there and then had to wait around.
After lunch I weeded under a big viburnum which gets chewed by viburnum beetle each year and then spread two bags of gravel underneath. I'm hoping this will deter the beetles from laying their eggs underneath. Fingers crossed.
My landscaper also turned up to point the slab of sandstone paving he'd laid last week so I watched very carefully in case I have a go later on. He made it look very easy and I know it's not as easy as it looks.

Lizzie27, is that the garden centre up near the crematorium in Bath? We used to live in Saltford but moved to Devon over 16 years ago. Used to love that garden centre, and the cafe!

Yes it is, @Ergates. Can't remember now when it changed hands to Hilliers, but the place is much the same, although a bit more expensive. I very nearly bought the end terrace house right next to it but it needed an awful lot of work done to it and I thought my bank balance might not stand the very close proximity to a GC. Funnily enough, I also used to live in Saltford.

It was Hillier's 20 odd years ago when I lived in Bath. Used to spend hours in there - my garden was only 12 feet square but it was well stocked  :o Nice cafe up at the top, as I recall.

Gosh, was it that long ago @raisingirl? It's right across the city from us here which is a bit of a pain if traffic is heavy, but it has a stunning location with views from the cafe at the top. (The outside loos are still the same though!). Now that Homebase has gone, there are only the two GC's left, Prior Park and Hilliers. I quite like Prior Park as it's an independent and put on some cracking gardening talks at one time but again a pain to get to.

    Evening all,

Busy, busy day. The sun certainly brings them out! They don't want to go home either, we're trying to close at 6pm, but people just love sitting on the terrace at that time so from Wednesday (our next de-confinement stage) I'm extending the hours, it's a shame to turn away business. Hoping we'll be closed by 9pm though, just offering apéros not main meals after 6pm.
Grandson loves gorgeous @Busy-Lizzie, sorry your weekend plans were changed though and I do hope other Grandson isn't suffering too much.

Early ish night for me, so many bookings again for tomorrow.

    Hugs to you all.

I'm glad it's going well @D0rdogne_Damsel, but I hope you aren't too exhausted. The weather looks set fair for the next 2 weeks.

Thank you to those who complimented my baby grandson.  :)

He's gorgeous @Busy-Lizzie and such long fingers.   Lovely baby.

Great that you're so busy @D0rdogne_Damsel.  maybe need a last orders bell and a "please go home bell".

We've had the demolition team in today.   Goodness me!   It turns out the roof on my party barn was made of stern stuff and took ages to get down.  Corrugated iron sheets bolted on, not hammered and a very sturdy construction of roof beams and cross bars and chevrons.   Lots of chopping up of iron sheeting and cutting of oak beams so 2 chains later on the saw..........   still some to be done tomorrow.  While all this was happening one of the beam truss structures in OH's barn did a volte face and is now hanging there upside down.  Bizarre.

We locked the chooks in their enclosure this morning to keep them safe but they escaped by diving under the gate.  Little madams!  Then they needed to go and see what the men were up to and the dogs wanted to know too and then one of the cats.  It's been all go here.   The last bit of chopping was to remove the panels and beams from the bay tree.   Head chappy wanted to dive in with his circular saw but I said "no, there is a technique."  Fetched my loppers and pruning saw and took out enough to let them slide it all off.

A bit of planting for me and some weeding with chooks helping and then all that hacking.   I shall have muscles tomorrow.   OH was out all day playing for his club so got home in time to walk the dogs and then share an end-of-day beer with the chaps.

They're coming back in the morning to finish off.   More weeding for me tomorrow.  Silk tree bed is full of what looks like wild giant stipa and some sow thistle.   Somewhere in there are some wanted plants.

    Sweet dreams everyone.

What a poppet @Busy-Lizzie.  Tiring day in the garden lugging pots about, splitting and trimming a very large lazula sylvatica and potting them up ready for a plant sale on Thursday, as well as a few other things.  Should have gone to bed ages ago but got stuck in a 'just one more' loop on Netflix.  Night all.
