True enough but that hardly negates the propensity for the CEO's of International Charities to pay themselves similar huge sums. Not citing charities only but if you look at the salaries ( plus expenses, shares and other freebies ) given ( rather than earned ) to some people today, your immediate thought ( or mine anyway ) is how can they actually justify the amount , how can they actually spend it and why on earth do they need it ? I agree about the Pigs in Troughs but sadly it doesn't just apply to politicians.
Even when they become former politicians there still at it.
Here's a truly disgusting charity salary for someone who should know better.
I once saw the figures for how much charities get, relative to the folk they " help " I've never given to RNLI ever again.
A couple of years ago, the RNLI was on a collection binge at my local Sainsbury SM. On exiting the store, I got my purse out and offered a couple of quid. "No, no" the chap said "we want you to sign up to our lottery - we don't want cash - it causes too many problems". I said "Sorry - I don't do lotteries but I can give you a donation now". There followed a rather loud and embarassing lecture on How Charities Work These Days. I eventually made my escape and whilst my offer of £2 was hardly going to be life changing for the RNLI, if even a percentage of shoppers that particular day had made the same offer, I'd have thought it worth while for the charity. Apparently not !
@NorthernJoe I'm terrified of snakes just typing the word makes me shiver and I'm always getting pictures of them and stories about them jumping out at me from the forum. TV is the worst, any nature program is a no no and there are whole sections of movies I've never seen.
Imagine being a weather forecaster and having to turn up to work every day knowing you don't have a clue how to predict the weather. This nice persistent rain is very welcome don't get me wrong but the Met Office said hot and sunny all day with no chance of rain. Is it that hard to forecast 12 hours ahead now?
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.
My local MP Geoffrey Cox ( he of the illegal proroguing of Parliament ) manages to squeeze in almost £800,000 a year in legal work, despite , allegedly , working full time as an MP. That's tories for you. Our taxes pay the MPs, but not , mercifully overpaid charity execs.

I believe he was criticised previously for jumping on the charity bandwagon - it doesn't seem to have curbed his enthusiasm for going for gold tho

I've worked with a few in my time, hence I assume the saying " You snake in the grass"
