I've just returned empty handed and p'd off from our local DIY shed.  I found the items I wanted and went to the tills.  At one a lady was returning an item and that was being checked over - fair enough.  At the other somebody had purchased a light fitting and wanted to check it over before buying it - fair enough again, although that could probably have been done with another staff member away from the tills.  A couple of ladies in front of me in the queue got fed up waiting after about 10 minutes, put their purchases back and walked out.  I hung on expecting to be served when one or other of the tills became free.  Instead, the person at the till where the item had been returned decided packing that up was more important, and called another staff member across to help her - not to serve.  At the other till, once light fitting lady was served, the staff member looked pointedly at her watch and left the till.
By this point my patience was exhausted and I dumped my potential purchases on the till and walked out.  I suspect those behind me did the same.  Don't these places want customers?
Our local DIY place has a person standing before the tills to direct customers to the best till based on what's free it least busy. If there's a queue building they usually put a call out for extra staff to open spare tills. It still has a delay but n it feels like they're trying so I'll wait. It also stops the queue jumpers which p me off but time.

This place used to have that system, and clearly marked spacing for the queue.  Most of it has faded to almost nothing and they clearly can't be a**ed to do anything about it.

No Scouts or Guides or anything like that in my family. All too anarchic and disorganised. 😁 I am married to an ex-Scout and he does come in handy when I need a knot tying somewhere.😊

I joined the Air Training Corps when I was about 13, my dad was in the RAF at the time.  I stuck it for 2 sessions as I couldn't deal with the bull from the NCOs or the one adult who (a) liked to throw is weight around and (b) was far too touchy-feely for my liking.  This was in the days long before the idea of 'Stranger danger' and similar.

Wild edges I want biscuits as well, and a mini bar
Individually wrapped Bourbon biscuits and an inexplicably tiny yet expensive Toblerone will be included just for you.

We grew land cress one year. Cress substitute weeds are hard to come by up here though sadly. I think they don't like the elevation.
I regularly grew Land Cress but the last lot of seeds I did never germinated.  Tried another lot with same result - shame as they could be picked more or less all year round.

@raisingirl - snap!  I was asked to leave for being disruptive.  They split us into Fairies, Elves and Pixies and made us dance round in circles, singing stupid songs.  I wanted to learn about knots and camp fires and wasn't afraid to say so.

Have to grump about the weather.  Forecast says dry all day.  It is persisting down and the radar shows a huge bank of rain that will take a couple of hours to pass over.   Great for the garden but not so great for this gardener whose arthritic knee is in full cry.

I just bought a new rear windscreen wiper for the car. They used to come in cardboard boxes but now they come in a huge plastic case large enough to fit 4 or 5 wipers. I assume it's a generic box to fit all wiper blades but another case of plastic use increasing where it isn't necessary. I would bet that the car part industry is heavily controlled by the oil industry who are desperately looking for outlets for their plastics at the moment.

@WonkyWomble thought Brownies was boring ... and wasn't afraid to say so ...
She refused outright to go continue with dance classes as the teacher kept telling her what to do!!!

I can see a good wadge of rain on the radar heading your way @Obelixx, not sure what we will get as the Meteo says different things on different sites. All I know is that we have a cold north easterly wind today instead of a cold north westerly.

On the radar map we are half way between La Rochelle and Nantes @floralies so just below the top line of that heavy rain cloud and with a strong westerly.   Better than a north easterly then.   Might have to have an early lunch while it all passes.
