“I don’t doubt for an instance the validity of to gift as a synonym for to give. It is simply that, going forward, I am loving it if you guys were super careful in avoiding clichés in your carefully curated magazine. Not too big an ask, I hope.”

Clay soil - Cheshire/Derbyshire border. I play with plants and soil and sometimes it's successful
Thank you @philippasmith2 for 'yum, yum' rather than 'nom, nom'; I really can't stand that. Things aren't 'nommy' they are 'yummy'. But what is mostly getting to me these days is presenters on tv saying 'you was' rather than 'you were'. And when did 'normalcy' become a substitute for 'normality'? I like 'draipse' - think I might start using that @steveTu as we currently have a few pieces of ironed and non-ironed clothing draipsed on the chairs in our dining room.
My little step granddaughter was just 2 years old when they came to dinner a few weeks ago, she ate her dinner and said ‘ Thank you, that was delicious’. They’ll be no yum yum, nom nom or yumity yum in their house, her mother is an English teacher.

I'll tell you what might happen. I might shout expletives at the telly & then disappear into the other room
