I have just been listening to Front Row on Radio 4. It featured an incredibly important carefully curated series of plays which talked to .... Give me strength. I’m fairly certain it wasn’t a spoof.
Set in Sheffield, the series is called ‘Rock, paper, scissors’ so I was prejudiced from the outset. The English term is ‘Scissors, paper, stone’.
The term 'reaching out'. When I reported a member of Gumtree the other week, admin came back to me via email and the first line said, thank you for reaching out to Gumtree. Why the heck can't they just say, thank you for getting in touch? Frankly, all these ruddy American phrases make me want to scream. They sound so insincere.
I'm going to use your answer to have a nice day B3. They'll probably think daft old bat but I'd only be reaching out to them. We need a vomity emoji on here.
OH has been watching videos on electronics. Seems that our friends across the Atlantic wont pronounce the L in soldering, and pronounce it to rhyme with doddering. Why? Is it like the second i in aluminium?
