  • I do agree with the above. Along with 'let me answer the question' but never intend to, of course.

I'm hearing the phrase 'hiding in plain sight' being used more frequently just about everywhere these days. Apart from being illogical, it irks me because it sums up the 'dumbo' in me who can't find anything, even if it's right under my nose!

Politicians are fond of saying '"I'm very clear on this..."  It is for us to judge whether they are clear or not.
They also tend to state that they have nothing more to add to their previous answer.  There is no time in an interview to replay to find the previous answer and even if there was, it would be found that of course there was no previous answer.

I'm pretty sure that "Look..." is the modern playing-for-time equivalent of "Well..." - which is undoubtedly something I said myself and which my father disapproved of.   :)

I’m sorry that this is punctuation, not a word or phrase, but I’m terrified that there are so many people putting an apostrophe before an S when it’s simply a plural, that it will become the accepted format.  Aaarrrrggggg!!!

That gets my goat too @a1154. It was a basic of our education. I find it odd that so many people don't seem to be able to grasp it.
It's the old grocer signs again - 'Onion's 50p per lb' thing.

It really is super annoying @B3. :|

I'd forgive greengrocers their superfluous apostrophes if there were any around here, but it irritates me anywhere else.
