Gorgeous roses everyone, so inspiring to see. I’ve just watched a very informative YouTube video from Paul Zimmerman about deadheading of the various types of roses.
There are always so many posts on this thread… don’t always have time to read them all, but I definitely scroll through to admire the wonderful photos! Anyway, I believe this thread should come with a warning… along with a glass or two of wine and access to online funds it can be dangerous… I’ve just received three very healthy DA roses thanks to the lovely pics and comments here… Desdemona, Gabriel Oak and Eustacia Vye. I don’t really need them, and have no idea where they’re going to go (pots for now, I guess), but hey ho…
Morning everyone. Can anyone help identify this beautiful rose? @Marlorena? I bought it from the village shop last summer and there was no label. The blooms are approx. 4” across and the stems are thornless. It’s in an area of the garden that gets some light shade and it withstood the battering by VERY heavy rain yesterday! The colour in the first and third picture is true to the real thing. It is covered in buds and stands approx. 3 ft. Any info would be appreciated 🌹
Help, where do I start? I have a massive Rose bush which was looking lovely until the rain put paid to that and now it’s fallen over. I’ll need two people to lift it back up at least and secure it. Thinking of heavily pruning the top as it was looking overgrown before but the roses had all come out. Honestly I don’t known how to properly care for this bush so any advice would be gratefully received. Thanks!
24 hrs of rain.. cloudy day.. and now, more rain..... rains predicted till wednesday..
took some pics during the break..
Loving the shape and scent of LEH and Golden celebration (even after the rains)..
First bloom on Royal Jubilee (was a spindly specimen from DA, but has grown well)
Lilliana (a renaissance rose) vs Chandos beauty.. sea shell pink (they call it) and chandos has a peachy pink.. in terms of flowering and scent she is up there with CB.. will see how it goes.. (bloom was photo bombed by Golden celebration, will update with a better pic after rains.. if it ever stops)
@Allyblueeyes - your rose - I am very much a novice so hopefully one of the experts will comment soon , but the flower shape ( ruffled petals edges) and the dark red-orange buds fading to orange with shades of pink flowers as they open -- looks very much like my "Easy does it" rose . I get a light-medium fruity scent from it but my OH can not smell it.

Thank you Desi! I’ve just googled it and it must be it, apart from the scent. My other half said he could detect a faint scent but I can’t 🤷♀️ Unless anyone says otherwise, I’m happy to go with that, especially as it’s disease resistant and an RHS award winner. I love the name too!! It was only £8 from the little shop ….. think I may have grabbed myself a bargain that day. Thanks again 👍🏼
