After 5 long years of waiting, I've finally got buds forming on my 'Tuscany Superb' and blooms to look forward to in a few weeks (thanks @Marlorena on advice on how to prune it) And what beautiful foliage to boot. Also my mystery, cheap, red rambler, bought last year is going great guns with loads of tiny buds and nice, healthy foliage...and also isn't showing, as yet, much inclination to grow much above 6-7ft, which is a bonus.
Exciting to see your Tuscany superb doing well @peteS, I have often thought of getting it, or Tuscany, which I think @Victoria Sponge has?
Thank you @newbie77, glad you are enjoying seeing it. I am hoping to give Marlorena a run for her money, maybe in another 5 or 10 years I might come close 😊 Of course I don’t show the scuzzy bits or foliage decimated by sawflies - maybe I should, for balance!
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
..I think you've already overtaken me Nollie.. a pity 'Soul' is not so weather resistant.. what a rose though otherwise .. I have a green garden at the moment, very lush, but short on blooms..
... back in 1986 the first 2 David Austin roses I bought were 'Perdita' and the similarly bred 'Heritage'.. both fragranced and blush pink.. I'm revisiting 'Heritage', it's a vigorous, continuous blooming rose, almost thornless, and lemony scented.. it has one drawback in that the blooms individually do not last long.. but it produces a whole mass of them.. ...planted just a few weeks ago, doing well..
..not many roses thrive in my Dry Garden border... Weeks roses do, and this 'Wild Blue Yonder' is growing away.. really pleased with this rose so far..
May is my favourite month despite the weather, it's all so lush and green out there, only the roses are not blooming.. I couldn't resist taking a picture of this row of Cow Parsley during my walk today..
New blooms - badly damaged/deformed, as the first blooms of the season sometimes can be. Jacqueline Humery and The Generous Gardener. Buds almost there (Eyes for you, Ebb Tide with saxifrage, Chippendale with 8 buds) Mossy buds of James Veitch Amande Paternotte/Joasine Hanet (damask perpetual/portland) I am happy with my lilac, it has almost no blooms in previous years, but I've read they prefer alkaline soil and spread some lime granules under it last summer/autumn and this year it's beautiful. Camassias with Sapphire (Tantau rose) next to it.
Not here @Fire, most of the buds on my roses are not even out yet, due to the cold winds and constant rain. I've got one small flower on Zephirine Drouhin which is being brave!
