Thank you @JessicaS, I have learnt from experience to go for the darkest colours possible as I do get fading here in the summer sun. Middling colours can look horribly  washed out. I have a fair number of new white/blush roses this year though, I like the contrast. However, I do get swarms of pollen beetles from the nearby fields and they do mar the white blooms. I have to shake them off to sniff or photograph!

I get those pollen beetles here @Nollie they can wreak havoc with the blooms on some single roses..

..as I'm typing this, I just found one on my glasses... as I've just come in from the garden..

I was pleasantly surprised by Olivia's fragrance last year, absolutely medium, not light.

@Marlorena, had to get down on my knees to to take a photo of Mme. Antoine Mari’s bloom, shook of the pollen beetles and most of them ended up on my face and down my t-shirt!

+1 to what edhelka and Omori said. It isn't strong but it is there and is pleasant to me

    Thankyou.
Woody has a habit of being in my favourite photos.

Sir John is improving each year and beginning to properly climb.  I hope it will look as good as it did in the Hampton Court display where I bought it from x
