I have a mass of gabriel oak by the drive, again the scent is lovely, I over did the companion planting a bit on this bed, the ami needs to be a bit further back I think. Behind these out of shot are brother cadfael and Alan Titchmarsh, I think 3 too many roses so brother c may need to find a new home in the autumn.
@pitter-patter, the flower form doesn't look the same at all irrespective of the colour, so it's rather curious! What does your BdJ smell like? Mine is very fruity and strong.
@Nollie - that must be it! I'll repot with the other compost and see how it does. It was sheer laziness on my part as I couldn't face lifting another 80kg bag and my OH was elsewhere. Ah well. Thank you!
As for the rambling rector, I bought and planted it before I knew anything about roses. It's on the garage that we're planning to knock down eventually, so if I can keep it moderately tamed that'll be fine. Also if it does cover the windows even better as it would deter the dastardly burgers!
That's a nice orange on your LEH @Omori, and nice red buds. I think it was you who convinced me to get LEH although I'm still awaiting flowers!
I like that tangle of companion planting with Gabriel Oak @Rickyjones24, I think it's a lovely cottagey mix.
@Imprevu, here's a pic of Walferdange (only year 1 to be fair). To be honest the reason I cut the sprays for a display is because I don't find the plant very noticeable but the flowers are sweet. I think the foliage is sparse but the border it is in has dry rubbish soil so maybe that is why. I've put it on an extra watering regime. In fairness, the flowers seem to last a while, they are only small, max 2" and are mottled and blotchy (colour, not damage) but I kind of like this. I hope eventually it will have more impact as it is at the front of one of my front garden borders.
