..your roses are coming along beautifully @Imprevu .. my Ghislaine de F which is a new replacement for one I lost, is about the same as yours... interesting mix of roses..
@KayJ .. I had Golden Showers in another garden, in a narrow confined space next to a path.. it was ok, upright, fan shaped and no problem at all... glorious rose especially when seen from afar... up close the flowers are a bit muddled, well, not muddled but not so full.. careful with the clematis though..
@Nollie .. that's a lot of stuff you've put in there but obviously working well for you, and it looks great.. ..your pot medley is really coming along too.. not seen R de Rescht in a pot before.. how are you finding Soul now?... it doesn't have much scent is that right?..
I am getting so fed up with the rain, it's constant. Loads of buds but just a couple of blooms opening and poor things getting beaten about. Tuesday is the next decent day forecast.
Blue For You, I have two of them on the top terrace, so many buds.
This climber is Cecile de Brunner, poor thing had to be moved last year at the end of May because of building work, looking good now though, buds all along it as it scrambles up the facia of the decking, hoping to be able to look down on all the blooms soon.

Ooo, looks like Kew Gardens is going to be my first to flower!
Desdemona
I do like Lady of the Lake’s foliage. I thought it would be more like Malvern hills, it’s similar shape but more glossy.

Last year the new growth on my apple tree was completely smothered in aphids, they did a lot of damage, so much so that I had to cut almost all of the new growth off one tier as it was so twisted and weak. This year despite the number of aphids they’ve left the tree alone.
@Imprevu, hmm, yes you might have a point there, Perhaps a very large, sturdy arch, but not a standard one. I was going to suggest Colonial White (‘Sombreuil’) which is on my list for Autumn, but that has thorns..
@Marlorena my clay soil is pretty sterile, rocky and awful without lots of amendments. The roses haven’t had any standard rose food though, just the one dose of alfalfa tea and then a bit of liquid feed to compensate. In contrast, Duchesse d’Auerstadt is doing absolutely nothing! Soul was fragrant, but can’t recall it much, will take note this year.
Was back in that lovely hotel for lunch today and managed to sneak into their pottager/rose garden afterwards. Duc de Guiche was even bigger this year, about 5x6ft. Really pronounced green button eye, almost proliferating on some blooms. They had a most fabulous Pierre de Ronsard over a huge arch, but I really didn’t like the fragrance, oddly artificial. A startlingly deep pink, intensely fragrant HT might have been Chartreuse de Parme. Unfortunately I didn’t have a camera with me and there was a wedding party in the grounds so couldn’t linger.
Here is Heidi Klum opened, the more I see the more I like this rose, lovely fragrance::
And the almost ever-blooming Stormy Weather:
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
For now enjoying @Nollie 's blooms. Raining everyday, worried that buds will be all balled up as rains predicted for next 10 days. Anyways... waiting, hoping.
We are forecast heavy rain for three or four days next week, @cooldoc, but looking out the window is more reliable. It stays over the Pyrenees when our prevailing south-easterlies are blowing it back, in a lull, it dumps it like emptying a ginormous bucket over your head and can batter the roses to the ground! I’m hoping buds on Soul and La Rose de Molinard don’t bloom just yet, as neither are very rain resistant.
