Time to appreciate the very temperate, earth-steady zone in which we live. No Bangladesh flooding or New South Wales drought. No Yukon -40oC or Saudi +40oC. No earthquakes, tornados, volcanos, hurricane seasons or permafrost. It's worth celebrating.
We need it here too. After a full day of rain on Monday the butts were full but the soil was only moist for about the top 4 inches, dust-dry below that. Hopefully today's rain will soak in deeper and if we get the showers that are forecast for the rest of the week, that should keep it topped up so that the dried out plants can get themselves going now that we have less-cold nights forecast.
Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained
It seems like north London is getting all of April's rain now, and some of May's too. The sound of rain on the roof, with me snuggled up in the attic, is by far my favourite sound.

My favourite sound is hearing the weatherman say " tomorrow it will be 28C "
We're definitely having plenty of rain now. My waterbutts are full, and I'm decanting it into buckets and other containers in order to collect more. I would like it to warm up a bit and wouldn't object to the odd dry and bright day, but I'm not complaining - better this than the dusty, cracked earth and wind-damaged leaves of a few weeks ago. I too love the sound of rain on the windows while tucked up in the attic.
