Hi all. Why do people have block paving? I absolutely hate ours as after 2 hours weeding and sweeping this morning it’s still a mess. It’s a constant battle and I am definitely losing. Finished laying the cotswold stones and the central bed looks better at least. Off to work now enjoy your afternoon everyone

@debs64 - MIL has one of those long handled wire brushes you can buy from GC's - specially designed for brushing weeds out of block paving & similar. All work done standing up. She was introduced to it last year and says it's a great tool. We don't have block paving so I have no idea how good it is.

    One like this:

Afternoon all 🙂 - off out to plant some verbena bonariensis and ox-eye daisies grown from seed. Feeling quite ickey at the moment and lunch didn't stay down too long🤢. Not sure if it's a bug or the jab but I'll work through as much as I can.

  • Topbird sorry to hear you’re not feeling well.  I hope you’re able to eat later, something simple as Hazel says.

It's been sunny here most of the day. I've planted my sweet peas and I'll just have to hope they don't die because of frost. They were getting rather tall.
    Feels chilly now.
Rain forecast here tomorrow too @Songbird-1
@Topbird sorry to hear your feeling poorly. Hope you feel better soon. Have a restful evening.

I have various tools to make it easier and have tried jet washing too but there are weeds growing in between every single brick so you can imagine how much work it is.
@Topbird take care looks like a nasty bug is doing the rounds. We will no doubt get this happening more once life returns to normal.

Evening all. I have had a pottering sort of day. Working in the greenhouse most of the time potting on epimediums, hemp agrimony and stachys. I also potted on my epiphyllums as they are starting to form flower buds now. Something has chomped a big semi circle out of one of them but miraculously it is still growing. I then had to spend about 10 minutes removing tiny spines that had come off them from my hands.
Glad to hear that the trip to market was a success Busy-Lizzie. You bought some yummy items there. Nice that your little robin is a bit drier now. Debs, pleased to hear that your sis is settling into her new job. My yellow rhodie is just starting to open up so hoping to get a picture very soon now. It seems to have been taking an age!
Jet washers can be quite damaging to block paving Hazel in that they can blast out the sand that the blocks are filled in with. I have block paving Debs and it is a PITA. Its my garden's equivalent of the Forth Bridge (I'm sure that must be an urban myth) and that associated with the mares tail that grows up between them is my constant battle.
T'Bird, sorry to hear about the upchucking. Hope tomorrow is a better day for you. You need to be over all that before your trip. I'll take a look at those wire brushes, thanks.
