Isn't it strange seeing the clouds moving in the normal direction after so many weeks of northerlies. We were at the RSPB reserve in Newport yesterday and it was still lacking loads of migrant birds so hopefully this new wind direction will open their routes back up.Β
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.
I'm having stern words with myself.Β Longing to be able to move some of the seedlings in the zip-up outside so more can go in and off my windowsills and impatient for warmer nights, I remember how, once June comes all of this is forgotten and summer bursts upon us and ends, unlike winter, all too quickly.
I'm with you on that one. I cant move in my greenhouse for plants. Cucumbers and tomatoes are already planted in the greenhouse and can cope with night time temperatures here of 5 degrees, but I cant get my bedding plants out yet so there all staying in the greenhouse for now especially as there's a lot of wind and cooler weather heading our way. Never had to keep the bedding in the greenhouse past the first of May. Its certainly been a much colder and longer spring.

I've just come across a very scrawny-looking vine weevil grub. It was in a storage area of the patio - compost bags and empty containers. Nowhere near any plants. I'm hoping a bird dropped it - but where did they find it?
Cor,kili that's so neat,! I normally plant my hanging baskets up at Easter, but it wasΒ early this year, so we did them the following week. I never plant tender bedding or veg out till the very last days of may
You can keep your bungee jumping and skydiving. If you want a real thrill try using a dog poop bag in heavy rain and high winds. Β The dog found a squeaky ball in a big puddle though so at least he's happy.

We were in the sailing club yard cleaning the boat our son used in the lesson. I had to help so I let the dog go. When we looked around because there was a bit of laughter across the yard. Sure enough our dog had found a tennis ball and was playing with it. Although the ball was attached to an aluminium tube but that didn't stop her trying to play with it. She once shot off 30m away, dug down and came out with a tennis ball. She was pleased with herself after that. How amazing are dogs when they can smell a ball buried over 30m away?!!!
My mum's friend has a pup. Apparently,it likes to sniff country pancakes. This amuses them. How naive! There are more enjoyable things to do with your dog thanΒ washing offΒ eau de pat .
We catch our dog sniffing something on the ground then you see the head down, bum in the air as she starts the motion of rolling and wriggling on her back. Funny to see but you know that occasionally what she rolls in sticks with her and is strong enough for us humans to detect and screw our noses up at. I did hear poo rolling, not canine but cow or sheep or other veggie, is a predator masking their scent for the hunt. Not sure what poo eating is though.
Ours is very good off the lead but unusually she had a chase of pheasants. Completely got away from me but she came trotting back when I called after losing the bird. Then she had a hunt of rabbits? No success unfortunately. Too many of both round here what with over population of pheasants for hunting and well rabbits are rabbits afterall! I'm sure nobody would miss one of either if she'd got lucky. Many more get run over anyway.
The worse thing my collie rolled in was dead fish, Β we were walking along a Dartmoor river where the fish had come to spawn I suppose, then chucked themselves up on the bank, Β there were dozens of them, it doesnβt take long for a fish to stink, Purdy thought it was lovely. Fox poo was her next favourite.Β
Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.Β
All our collies like rolling on fox poo, this one eats cat poo from the veggie plot. My you used to eat horse poo when he was a puppy. Had bang in the night looked out couldn't see anything. 60mph winds neighbours bin is on my ireses, why can't he be bothered to Moy it a couple of feet!
