Does anyone think that the chief execs of the 'Big Six' are really sorry? I hate 'fake' apologies - nearly as bad as someone apologising for doing something they've been told not to do - and akin to 'thank yous' from people who have been told to say thank you.

Yes they are really sorry.Β Really, really sorry that their dreams of making millions of pound, dollars, roubles or whatever have disappeared.

I expect they'll think of something. My grump on all of that is that the (really very significant) announcement on Climate Change got rather lost in all the football hoo hah. It'll fail if no one realises they are expected to do something.
My grandfather was a village policeman. The family - 5 children - lived in the police house which, according to Mum, meant that while my grandfather dealt with criminals and ne'er-do-wells, Granny dealt with their families and their victims who would turn up at the house, looking for help or looking for vengeance. She was a formidable lady, by all accounts. I wish I had known her properly. She died when I was 9.

Robert Swan said "The greatest threat to this planet is the belief that someone else will save it."
My grump is that I've just had a flyer through the door telling me to vote for Neil Hamilton. I assume it's a vote for a 'who is the biggest scumbag in politics' competition because why else would anyone vote for someone with his record?
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

The village police house is just around the corner from where we live (now a residential property) and I always walk past it and wonder what the walls there have seen. OH used to live in a similar size village back in Bucks that had a village police station at the end of his road which has now been knocked down and turned into new builds. So my grump is that lovely architecturally and culturally important houses are being turned into meaningless new builds the country over!
