Was he the one of "brown envelopes" and had a conviction?

That's what I was thinking but I was afraid I might have confused it with a similar brown envelope scandal that happened in Ireland .
Politicians should beware of brown envelopes😲

Definitely brown envelopes when he was MP for Tatton -Β https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2016/may/10/neil-hamilton-disgraced-mp-celebrity-political-comeback-ukip

There must be something about Tatton cos George Osborne became the MP when it reverted to the Tories after a spell with Martin Bell as an independent MP as a protest vote.

Neil Hamilton is standing for UKIP in the Welsh elections while campaigning to get rid of the Welsh Assembly despite the fact he's not from Wales and doesn't live here and claims substantial expenses for commuting from Wiltshire to his constituency. It seems his only tactic in politics is to drum up hate for something and now Brexit has been sorted out he needs to focus on something else to destroy. At least when he's denying climate change exists or insisting that there's no evidence that leaded petrol ever did any harm we could just laugh at him but now he seems to be the last passenger on his sinking ship of racism. The craziest thing though is that people actually vote for him.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

Not all village police houses are architecturally significant. My old village was a pretty nasty post war prefab ex council house that really should be knocked down.Β  It got improved after it was sold off. The court has since retired and is a local Councillor last I heard. I still remember reading his gardening advice he once gave in the coming he did for the neighbourhood watch newsletter.

Can't remember the plant options but they were all thorny and caused infected scratches on any ne'erdowells trying to break in. Iirc one was a tour of climbing euphorbia with severe thorns that caused infected wealds wherever they scratched the skin that lasted a couple of weeks. Apparently if they saw certain known burglars with red scratches its enough to get a search warrant to check for stolen items. Imho he was a bit nasty with his vicious advice but he was a very keen gardener with a lot of plant knowledge so I guess I can forgive him his little vindictiv towards the local scrotes doing most of the areas burglaries.Β

I hadn't realised Neil Hamilton was still alive and kicking - he was an appalling MP in Tatton and I doubt he'll do much for Wales either.Β  The expenses bandwagon is nothing new for him and presumably he now follows in Farage's footsteps.
The pair of them are such obvious "gimme gimme" politicians ...........unfortunately as you say, people vote for them tho God knows why.

In Wales I'd say voting for him is a protest against both Labour and Cymru.Β Β

I don't understand voting for Rees-Mogg when you could spoil your ballot paper if you canna thole the other candidates.
