Yes contact him by Recorded Delivery and send a copy of your letter to the local press, radio and tv stations and the Secretary of State for Work & Pensions Therese Coffey ... sheโs very ambitious and wonโt want (any more) bad publicity. ย
Therese Coffey is a complete waste of space.ย She will never accept that the DWP is anything less than perfect in the way it operates.ย I've never seen any MP get more aggressive/confrontational than her if anybody dares to question her opinion.
I had a conversation with DWP this week about husband.ย " what's his NI number?" "I have no idea I'm afraid"ย " Can you ask him?" " He doesn't know what day of the week it is. Do you expect him to remember his NI number?"ย Silence.
That is the only aspect where I have some sympathy with the person you were speaking to at DWP.ย The basic piece of information used to access records is the NI number.ย Even providing them with name and date of birth doesn't guarantee they will have the right person, and accessing the wrong individual can cause them no end of grief.ย Staff are simply not permitted to provide information to any 3rd party without permission of the claimant.ย Neither can they take information from a 3rd party without permission of the claimant.ย That is why there is an appointeeship option for those unable to manage their own affairs.
Any letter to an individual should have their NI number on it, so once that is obtained and there is either a note on their file that a named individual can act / speak on their behalf, or formal Appointeeship is granted, life trying to manage their affairs will be much easier.

She is a complete *** ... someone I know attends the same church ... a while back there was a homeless man at a Sunday service ... she refused to even make an appointment, let alone speak to him because 'it was her day off' and anyway, if he's homeless he didn't have a home in her constituency so wasn't a constituentย ๐ It didn't go down well locally.ย She really can't afford any more bad publicity and she knows it ... her local press would have a field day ... if you get nothing from her contact the political editor of the East Anglian Daily Times.ย ย

What a pratt! Must admit I'd never heard of her. I wonder if someone offered her a shoo-in to a private sector job on her day off, would she find the time to sign the contract?
This is where ID cards come in.ย Possum's Belgian ID card carries her name, date of birth, address, link to driver's license, medical status, national ID number, tax number.ย ย It can be scanned at home with a simple device and has to be presented for all official business at the council or to open a bank account, vote, move house and register for rates, council services, TV and internet.
Stops a lot of fraud and makes it easy to get what you need.

I agree with all the comments about Therese Coffey - not at all a pleasant woman. Our local MP, in a neighbouring constituency, also Tory, (they all are around here) is a bit 'nice but dim'.ย But he does help with local issues - he helped get us an ATM in our town after the last bank closed here and he helped with getting me out with getting out of a spurious business telephone contract when I opened my little shop a few years ago.ย So yes, I would write to a letter to the local papers and cc her.ย ย
I forgot to add my grump.ย I hardly ever use my mobile phone as I am at home all the time, prefer to use my laptop and the landline is right next to it.ย This amuses my family.ย I had to turn the mobile on to receive an authorisation code for some website or other and saw there were some messages in the family WhatsApp.ย They referred to a cake I made a couple of weeks ago (which was shared with them) and their comments were: nom, nom.ย They know I hate that expression.ย They don't use it with each other, only me.ย Why do they torment me in this way!

I've never understood why anybody has an objection to ID cards.ย Unfortunately when they tried in the UK, the "oomun rytes" lot got up on their hind legs.
