Good morning all 😊 ☕️ Wet here at the moment ... not gardening weather for me ... today we’ll be testing out the cleaned out and reassembled pipe work from the washing machine 🤞 and continuing with the floor waxing as we were ‘waylaid’ by washing machine mayhem yesterday ... the best laid plans of mice and men eh? 🙄
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
I’m glad you like the photo DD. I got lots of shots this afternoon while Hubby was cutting up dead trees with the chainsaw. A good excuse for a wander around in the back of our place.
Morning all. A friend has told me of another plant nursery 15 mins west of here. Think I'll go and have a look, builders not coming today, electrician has to come first and he's here tomorrow. Still haven't found an Amelanchier.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Morning all, another grey showery day. @Busy-Lizzie I have never seen Amelanchier in any plant nursery here, I bought mine on line, they were Amelanchier Canadensis which are suppose to be more tolerant of clay soil.
Ooo - new spade - lovely jubbly 😀. And another new nursery to explore @Busy-Lizzie - you’re spoilt for choice 🌱🌱🌱.
A day of college work alone at my desk for me today. Everyone else goes back to college today, but I’m waiting til 3 weeks past Mr C’s jab (this Friday 🥳) before I come out of hibernation. For some reason our college (16-18 year olds plus adult learning) has decided only the 16-18 year olds need Covid tests before going back, the rest of us swan in without so much as a by your leave. Bit arbitrary 😳. I have notes and text books, and a good idea of what I need to cover, so I should be ok.
Had a good day of real gardening (as opposed to the text book stuff) yesterday - beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel on the great clear up ......must get some mulch on order for the next step.
Zoom lecture from the NGS tonight - their series has been brilliant so far. Tales of how people have created their stunning gardens. And so far, all from people who have done it themselves, as opposed to the ones who employ a fancy designer and a team of gardeners and then call it “their” garden. From the comments being made by the host I think the series has been a big financial success for the NGS, helping to fill the gaping hole in their funds caused by the Covid reduction in garden visits. I really hope they repeat it next year - there are a few great things that have come out of lockdown, which could be the start of something new and exciting. Lots of viewers from Europe, canada and the U S too. Has anyone from here been tuning in?

I'd hoped to get into the garden party night to finish off the weekends work but ended up on dinner duty. Let's see if the weather is conducive today.
Hope everyone had a lovely day. I'm hoping the coffee does it's job for me!!
