Sorry to ask a question again, I'm still considering what rose to put on my main fence (Paul noel relegated to a North facing site) my latest idea is to intermingle sanders white with an Alexandre girault, will that work or are they too big for each other? Will they try and outcompete each other and both fail, Tia for any thoughts....

..oh ok... keeps you busy... if you develop a garden channel I'm sure some of us would be happy to 'subscribe', if you needed any... I've heard youtubers need 'subscribers' for various reasons.. dunno anything about it myself..

.. I posted a photo earlier, maybe the other thread, of an arch where I had 'Alexandre Girault' growing on it... I've clipped it below... reason to show again, is because you can see another arch in the background... that had 'Sanders White Rambler' on it... what you will notice is that 'AG' is in full bloom, 'SWR' is not, although there are masses of bud clusters, it starts to flower 2 or 3 weeks later than 'AG'... so the flowering period will overlap, rather than bloom in unison...

..  if you are happy with that, then go ahead...

..personally, I would ditch 'SWR' and grow a repeat flowering pink climber like in my picture... one like 'A Shropshire Lad' for instance..... just sayin'...

A small repeat flowering rambler would be good, but otherwise I’m not too fussy, the anticipation of new roses is a great distraction at the moment.

I have my eyes on 'Highworth' from Style Roses. Anyone willing to do the sacrifice and try it, so I don't have to?  :D  :D Repeating, with large trusses of blooms, nice flat full flower form, smallish...

What are the optimum conditions for carrying out sulphur spraying during the dormant period, and is the ready to use stuff adequate for the task of does it require a more concentrated mix. I've never used it before, but I had 2-3 roses hit quite badly last summer with BS and thought I would give it a go this year.

Lots to catch up on the thread. What is sulfur spray? Is it same as sulphate of potash?

I am very interested in whether sulphur will help. I bought a Spanish product (before Brexit) that I mixed myself. I think @Omori used Sulphur Rose last year but disliked the white residue so thought I would try a different brand, probably all the same thing. I will spray again soon I think. I hadn't thought to increase the dose before but while the roses are still dormant I will unless somebody here says not to.
