@Marlorena :/ did not know why they were around that pot. Might try giving all of them a good soak, not sure if that helps.

Same here @Omori, I’m left with one vaguely green cane on Mutabilis and no growth, all the other canes are dead, I think it’s given up!

@newbie77 yes will report back on the success, or otherwise, of the new feeding regime. It does strike me there is little phosphorus in the alfalfa/fish etc. recipe, I’ll just have to hope there is enough in the clay soil. @edhelka did you say you were using rock dust this year? Is it volcanic dust do you know? I can get that here, or at least volcanic gravel that I could grind up.

@Nollie Yes, volcanic rock dust. No idea if it does anything :) And I haven't used that much. My guess is that it is better for poor acidic sandy soil (like mine) than for alkaline clay (like yours) but who knows.

..we all get duds occasionally... shouldn't happen but there's always one unfortunately.. I sometimes wonder if the rootstock is half dead on arrival..   mine is Silas Marner, I just can't get it to grow at all...

That was quick, thanks @edhelka! It was really only that there would be a slight feed imbalance without the phosphorus in commercial feeds. I will just observe to begin with and see if the leaves show any signs of deficiency.

I saw a peacock today too, strange isn't it. Love Golden Beauty it always performs really well for me.

I also saw a peacock butterfly today!

Maybe it’s the same one. Intrepid little fellow.

No peacocks here yet, but the scarce swallowtails are out and about, not so scarce here.

I’m not so bothered about Mutabilis really, since it was a freebie substitute and I wasn’t really sure what I was going to do with it. Still upset about Chateau de Cheverny dying on me tho, especially since they refused to refund me, but I’m sure I’ll get over it in a couple of years 😆

I have Golden Beauty too, just planted it out.

Squeek. One of my Etoile is covered in buds. None in its first year, last year.             *Feeling breathless*

@Marlorena I’d replace this Mutabilis but it doesn’t seem to be in stock anywhere, so I’ll be crossing my fingers until it’s definitely 100% dead 😆

@Fire That’s exciting, I had none on mine last year, it’s been a slow starter. Maybe this year for me as well 🌹
