@Mr. Vine Eye Could you please tell me what diameter of wire you use to support your roses.
Mostly 2mm galvanised. There’s closer to 3mm on the shed but that’s overkill and also much harder to install. Would be more suitable for longer runs without support though. 2mm is fine for mine because it’s supported in multiple places.
I got one bad batch of wire though. On the fence with wire anchors on the posts, the 1st 3rd and 5th wires are fine, but the 2nd and 4th which I put in afterwards, with a different roll of wire, are rusted all over.
Lady of Shalott is piggy backing off the support wires for my espalier apple tree which has 4mm wire rope.
I’m going to go get some of the large cheap pots that B&M sell today to move LEH and Emily Bronte into. Poor things. Need to do it ASAP. I’ll just reuse soil from the garden for the pots as I’ll need to remove quite a bit anyway when putting slabs down, but I’ll need to get some more multipurpose compost from somewhere to mix in.
@cooldoc2000 TCL let me know on Friday evening they will send them early next week. I'll update with how long, who with and what they look like when they arrive. I'll try and remember to tag you.
Roses are now coming on well. I just gave them their first feed of the year. And - Halleluja - I finally planted into the good earth two poor Creme de la Creme that have been in little pots for lord knows how long. I forget. It's been that long. They had lots of feeder roots but no big tap roots at all.
I have a load of other roses in, but they are not doing much yet. Below are the ones that are bounding along. I grow mostly climbers as my garden is only 3m wide. I like colour at height.
This is going to The Year Of The Arch. I am bloody determined.

Dr Jamain looking as free from black spot as it will from the rest of the year. So pristine. For about a week.

Etoile d'H in the front planted last autumn, with Moonlight in the back growing up the fence.

Moonlight. Planted last autumn to replace an ivy hedge.

Crimson Glory and possibly others.

A different Etoile d'H. Rampant and wild. I have exciting plans to train this along my shed roof this year; and possibly along the road to the corner shop.

Barkarole - with its gorgeous dark plum foliage (pruned a bit late).
Thanks @Tack I was told they would deliver in 3 days. But I assume it is the shipping bit. It takes longer to arrange stuffs for them and the delivery company.
Did a close inspection of roses and no buds. At least not many aphids either.
Enjoying camellias in garden and little vase of hyacinths at home. I thought hyacinths won't last in vase but they are still looking ok after couple of days.

That's good to know thanks...I have a wall where I am going to install it so it's good to know the least diameter I can get away with.
