    @poppyfield64 Thank you for the information, I wasn’t aware that KMK was quite so rigid.

    After a long struggle I’ve decided to dig KMK and put it somewhere else on an obelisk. For the arch I’ve ordered two of Lilac Bouquet, which is a lightly scented, repeat flowering thornless rambler. I was going to order two Scent from Heaven, for the smell, but changed my mind in favour of the rambler. I hope I won’t regret it.

    Thank you for all your support with this.

    Could I plant a clematis as well with these two ramblers?

    phew... I've just had the roughest 24 hrs for a long time... I had every side effect listed under the 'Most Common.. affects more than 1 in 10 people'.. I felt I had been hit by a bus..
    oh well I spose it's working..

    @Omori
    ..that's a great endorsement of Sweet Syrie, I've often looked at that rose.. I think @JessicaS has it..
    ..those books are incredibly cheap, worth every penny.. they cost much more elsewhere..

    @pitter-patter
    ...I love your flower combinations..

    This arrived today, smelling lovely and brochurely (an acquired smell). To me, the picture on the cover just looks messy and not one of their best.

    @Marlorena...I know exactly what you mean, I had the roughest 24 hours for many a year after my jab.

    Sorry to hear you've been having a rough time of it @Marlorena, hope the worst has passed 💐

    I’ve been wondering which rose to get for the back of the coal shed, which is a nice sunny position and viewed from seating...I think I’ll get Sweet Syrie for it 👍 Somehow 7 other roses have landed in my basket at the same time 🤭

    @pitter-patter, I did wonder about Kiss me Kate, many Kordes roses are quite stiff and upright, but not much info out there on her. Wouldn’t you want to grow one Lilac Bouquet up and over and the KmK the other side, or would that be too unbalanced for you? Would two LBs be too vigorous on the same standard arch? I am waffling really as I don’t know the answers to the questions I am posing!

    @Marlorena, I do hope you recover soon, that sounds rough. Still, I must admit to vaccine envy, no chance over here for ages, since Spain is so slow, plus I’m not eligible for public healthcare anyway and my private insurer is not offering it to their clients yet either 🙁

    ..thanks so much, yes back in the garden today.. I missed it..
    @Nollie
    I didn't know that.. that's a bummer..  it should be free and available to everybody at the earliest shouldn't it?

    DA really needs to get a better photographer, so many of their photos are blurred, it doesn't enhance the roses at all @peteS

    @Omori
    ...lucky you... I won't ask what other roses you're getting... well I will..what are they?..

    @Marlorena I hope you're on the mend soon. I too am struggling with all the side effects. Annoying when so many of my friends barely noticed, but as you say I suppose it's a sure sign that it's working.

    I have just planted my last two purchases for the year. Mermaid from Trevor White and Bathsheba from DA. Need to get the framework for Mermaid in place soon as I suspect I won't have long....

    @Camelliad
    ..thanks again... my husband had the jab at the same time and he's had no effects whatsoever..
    I hope you have room for 'Mermaid'  it takes off and grows quickly and is inclined to grow enormous.. I had it Cornwall where it was very windy, which meant the petals got blown off rather quickly... otherwise it's a beauty, with large butter yellow single blooms.. quite thorny as I recall..

    @Marlorena yes... I thought long and hard about it. We already have an old rose on the other side of the house which I last year managed to identify as Mermaid. I have each year tried to encourage it back to its former glory and last year could see for the first time properly what it was. It flowered all summer and the leaf colour is gorgeous. Yes yes to the petals. But I would like the same rose on the other side of the house - it has lots of space to cover, including the garage.  I just need to make sure we get our vine eyes and wire up soon!!

    The thorns are big and long - like talons. I've not seen anything like it!!
