    @Omori, yes it does look very similar. Lets see what they say about its fragrance when it is released.

    @JessicaS, I guess it is combination of increased online sell from their own website and lack of staff working days during lockdown periods.

    My Malvern has just arrived

    😱

  • Hmm, thanks for posting the new DA @newbie77.  I like a nice yellow but I already had the sweet looking Imogen on my list, and a tonne of spring bulbs have sprung up in the allocated space so that'll need reviewing.

    I'll have to see what kind of plant it is size etc, other attributes.  I think it looks kind of cute.

    Looking really good there @JessicaS. Will be brilliant to watch it fill up
    Disappointing if that is it DA. Auspital is fun though.  I have £50 voucher burning a hole, nothing from there seems good value to spend it on other than a DA rose (just the one (plus rose food!) so I really hope for something else.

    ...you're getting as bad as me... glad you got a 'GT' though, surprising how it turns up in unexpected places.. it will be interesting to see if you get black spot issues with it... it was never a problem for me and I grew it in damp Cornwall, where it was one of my best shrub roses at the time.. nor here in East Anglia which is much drier of course..

    @newbie77
    ..thanks for the info re DA rose...

    One rose is better than none.. but I'm not sure I need it though..

    I’m kind of expecting some blackspot @Marlorena, but getting more relaxed about it. GT is a back up really, in case Duchesse d’Auerstadt isn’t as cold hardy as I hope it will be (the Duchesse is meant to be hardier than Marechal Neil at least). Plus I read it can be grown against a north wall in warmer climes. Bit of FOMO involved too, if you are told you can no longer have something, suddenly it becomes more attractive! And it was on sale. OK, OK, enough justification 😆

    @Marlorena

    What is the best way to tackle the pruning of my 'Graham Thomas' in order to build on last year's improvements. It's the climbing version and now has several whippy canes about 5-6ft long. Do I need to prune these or just keep them tied in.

    ..yes Pete, hold on to those, otherwise you'll be returning it to shrub form, and you don't want to do that..

    @Nollie
    ..FOMO... oh I had to look that up... well yeah, I know what you mean ... I would be surprised if you lost a rose to winter in your climate though, perhaps a bit of dieback, but I wouldn't have thought it cold enough to kill outright... so now you need Marechal Niel don't you?...

    The NHS rose? Not surprising, given the situation, I guess it can help with sales a lot. But not for me, even if it were the best rose in the world.
