@peteS Most of their potted section has been out of stock (modern shrubs atleast) since the bareroot season, not sure if Brexit has anything to do with it, in terms of getting new roses.
@Omori after your post about hybrid teas and frost damage, I realised that among my roses Double delight and Scentimental are the most affected. Others are affected too but not too bad.
@Mr. Vine Eye This pic reminded me of another one Marlorena posted earlier. Made me squish the pics, God, I hate them...... not sure how you guys tolerate it.
@celcius_kkw Good to know about non musky scented Daffodils, hope I remember for next year.

Thank you all for your reviews of Mayflower and SWE.. for me scent ranks more highly than ‘voluptuousness’ (gotta love your vocabulary, @Omori). I am trialling Gabriel Oak and Eustacia Vye this year in those windy spots and if they do well I would have a dilemma - as these two certainly seem to have much better blooms.

@pianoplayer How old is that SWE of yours in the picture?

@cooldoc I’m with you regarding aphids.. they really trigger my trypophobia. On my 8 th floor balcony I don’t have much chance with sparrows (if only I could swap those annoying seagulls for them instead) or ladybirds.. I spray them at first sight really - I’ve picked up a really good organic product called SB plant invigorator - best discovery so far this year.

Trypophobia - ooo, I have that. I didn't know it had a name.

@Fire I had to google it quickly to check the spelling and I didn’t even dare to press ‘enter’ as I was afraid of the images it might bring up.. I’m getting goosebumps just talking about it now..!

@celcius_kkw , I have SWE and I don't like it. I guess because it doesn't have big, decadent, voluptuous rose. Plant is also small awkward and thorny. Mine never looked good like the photo leaves always had some sort of mineral deficiency look. I never took photos of it and can't remember fragrance. I find hard to get rid of plants so I have put it in a difficult corner near conifer.

@celcius_kkw I must admit to finding DA’s recommendation of SWE for a windy area rather perverse! Yes it’s a tough little thing, as a plant, but I had mine in the breezy front garden. A new bloom would be looking pretty one morning, then the next the petals would be scattered all over the garden like confetti! Not one for those with even a hint of OCD, I hated the mess it made. Scent was very light for me, mutual indifference I guess.

@cooldoc, what other ones did you get from the Italian Supplier? I have looked but not ordered before. I see they have a good range of discontinued Austins!

I bought three of those @Marlorena but have been hesitating to plant them out yet because of the cold nights. They've been blooming for weeks in the porch, so today might be the day. How close to the roses should I plant them please?

...Lizzie... if you give any kind of manure to your roses, composted or otherwise, then you keep these well away... I have none within 3 feet of a rose, but if you don't manure, then there's no reason you can't plant them closer..
