Way back in 1991 when I flew over to spend a weekend in Brussels house-hunting for our imminent move to Belgium, I was amazed to see huge panels in the arrivals hall advertising SMEG appliances for the kitchen.  As a keen watcher of Red Dwarf I was bemused to say the least.

Toyota MR2 was never going to sell well in France. And, with an eye to the German market, Rolls Royce switched from Silver Mist to Silver Cloud.

Very roughly translated, Cortina in Latin means tin can.

At least the Cortina was given an honest name.

Possum's first boyfriend was known by me as Tin Kan.  His name was Quentin but his mum was a hairdresser with arty pretensions and spelt it Kantin!   Same pronunciation.

My RTBC - the sun has come out for my afternoon planting session and Possum has had her first jab.

My garden wall, complete with time capsule, is finished. I’m delighted with it, not least because I feel it has contributed something that future generations will enjoy. At any rate I hope so and, when its days are numbered, the treasure trove that is the time capsule will be revealed.

Watching Beechgrove this morning and had to smile when they said dahlias need to be about 10cm deep, and be sure to leave at least 1" free of compost in the pot.  Glad to see I'm not the only one who still does a mix and match with measurements.

Fresh strawberries,  first of the season,  picked while still warm from the sun,  eaten within an hour of being picked.

Having put up with the buzz of the security helicopter for the last hour I was treated to a fly past by The Red Arrows - wonderful!

And now the 41 gun salute - bring back the helicopter  :D

Fresh strawberries here too @Allotment Boy courtesy of @Fairygirl who sent me the runners.  If you are looking in the plants are doing really well and are loaded with flowers and fruit.
