Thin day here so wholemeal penne with a sauce made from halved cherry toms, garlic, chilli and oregano with a dash of tomato purée.   It's better than it sounds and needed after yesterday's birthday blow-out.

I have the doings for a steak and kidney pie tho so maybe this weekend?  Getting kidney past Possum will be a major feat so I'll not try for a pudding just yet.

Glad your cat has been retrieved @WonkyWomble.  Ours have a sheep fleece I used to have for lining the back of Possum's pushchair when she was wee.  That's on our bed and they also have a synthetic fleece blanket on a box on top of the wardrobe - dog free zone.

Had a lovely long chat with daughter in her new house which  has a ceramic hob in the kitchen. She's asked me to find out if she needs special pans for it - does anybody know please? It's an extra expense she could do without at the moment if not.
Sounds like she's happier in the new place  :) It's not essential to have special pans for ceramic hobs. It's induction hobs that only work the right kind of pan. With ceramic hobs, you can just use the normal ones although the thicker type are better - it's easy to burn stuff with the thinner ones but not really any different to a gas hob.
If she can't afford new ones, she may just have to be a bit careful. But they will work.

PS Hello @Hostafan1 :) Nice to see you again - you've been missed

Sorry - get ceramic and induction confused but yes, thicker the better and not bent or bashed.

Good evening all! I wondered why there were 70 posts on here today... it’s because uncle Hosta is back!! Ah - lovely to hear from you @Hostafan1 - we have been thinking of you.

A ferocious day in work so needed to have bacon sarnies for tea for some instant relief.

Hope everyone is ok. Stay safe.

Thanks Obelixx and @raisingirl, I wasn't sure of the difference either. I'll ask her what pans she has.
Sorry you've had a very tough day @AuntyRach , bacon butties sound just the thing to pick you up.
The internet box you bought sounds interesting @Busy-Lizzie, daughter will be without broadband for a bit, she works from home and doesn't really want to go into work.

Crikey @Dovefromabove, did you both eat the whole thing? Veg too?

Steamed Savoy cabbage ... no spuds @Busy Bee2 ... and we didn’t eat all the suet crust ... but it wasn’t really very big, and OH is famous for having hollow legs ... he has a very good appetite ... eats far more than me ... you wouldn’t think so from looking at him would you?

Whereas Ma once said to me ‘You don’t eat as much as you’d think, from looking at you’ ... and she didn’t get why I felt insulted 🙄 😆

Hello everyone.  It’s already a bit too warm for my comfort and it’s only 11.30 here .  Looks like an inside day again.

  • Hi all
Talking of steamed puds, may I ask what goes in a bacon roly poly besides the suet pastry and the bacon?
I ask because I happen to have both ingredients and your talk gave me the sudden inspiration and, of course, 'you lot' have the expertise and experience!
    Thanks in advance.

One of our neighbours gave Hubby an armful of silver beet.   He made Spanakopita.   Rather tasty. 😜
