No sandbags @Dovefromabove, but have several bags of compost, so if necessary they will be used.

Cold, grey and murky here but not wet or frozen.  Looks like Christophe will stay north of us.  Be careful all those in his path.

Yesterday I spotted tiny shoots on my snowdrops which means I can now safely weed their bed without inflicting damage - just as soon as things dry out a bit.   Sewing today then but soon be time to wash seed trays and sow some chillies.

    Hello all.

Another lovely sunny day after a frost. The sheets are on the washing line. Chicken carcasses are simmering on the stove for soup.
There is a website, Google group for English people here. I replied to a man looking for packing boxes for his move, he came this morning and took a load, gave me a bottle of wine.

Off to the SM, only 3kms away here. Then more unpacking and shelf cleaning.

Did anyone see my last night's post about black plastic? Maybe I'll start a separate thread.

Hello all, I have been looking in and seeing what you are all up to. have felt rather down these last few days as my BIL who had a fall and then caught Covid in hospital died a few days ago. It was expected so my sister was quite prepared for it. I think the sad thing is that I can't get over to see her and the family at the funeral, but that is just the way it is at the moment and we must live with it.
On a more happy note, the sun is shining and the warmth is wonderful if you don't go in the shade! Nothing in the garden seems to have been too spoiled by the heavy snow last week and the garlic is getting going now. We did our SM shop today as we thought it might be quieter as the sales start here tomorrow and it will be rammed.
Have a good day all and keep an eye on those rising water levels!

Floralies, very sorry about your BIL. It must be hard for everyone who can’t get to see family and friends.  BusyL, I saw your post about the plastic, but felt I couldn’t help you. Our climate is so much hotter that yours is, so not the same for us.

Desi, thanks for the thought, but my mouth isn’t much improved yet. Very disturbed night and dribbled blood on my pillow slip 🙄🤭. Darn it. Never mind I’ll throw all the bedding in the washer tomorrow. It’s probably due anyway. I’m still very sore, but not throbbing like it was yesterday. Hopefully, tomorrow will be better.

Anyway, 11 pm here, so we are in bed now and about to try to get some sleep.  Night all.

  • Late postings but up early today, we had a SM delivery between 7-8. It was the only slot we could get this week.  We had a Sains delivery Saturday but so much of what we wanted was either not available or very short dated,  my OH got this one from Wrose.  Much better this time.  @floralies sorry about your Bil sadly this sort of thing is happening all to often.  My wife  lost an uncle in similar circumstances recently. In Hospital for another reason caught Covid,  same result.
Busy L I think around 3 months for the grass to go under plastic.  It might not all die but it will be much weaker.

Hello all, just getting dark enough to pull the curtains across, it's wet and windy out there and worse forecasted for tomorrow.
Sorry to hear about your BIL @floralies. We're in the same position as my uncle's funeral is taking place tomorrow which obviously we can't attend. He had six children so with grandchildren as well, that's all the quota probably allowed. I have a video link but don't yet know how that works.
Daughter has collected the keys and was going round to have a look at her new place this afternoon. She only saw it once and the landlords been redecorating since - hope she likes it.
Treated ourselves to tea and scones earlier, now feel quite full, good job it's only salmon for dinner tonight.
Hope the toothache wears off @Pat E and that your stream doesn't flood too badly Punkdoc.

I'm sorry about your BIL @floralies and your uncle @Lizzie27. Such difficult times, let's hope the vaccine works.

Now I know why the SM was so quiet today, sales tomorrow. There is never anything I want in the sales anyway.

We've found the Freesat box for the bedroom TV at last, packed with the missing pillowcases.

The sheets dried on the line today.

Thanks @Busy-Lizzie, his death wasn't unexpected as he was 88 and had dementia plus Covid but it's another link to his sister, my late mum gone.

Hope you solve your grass/new rosebed problem. Is getting somebody in  to dig it over an option?
