    Thanks folks for your support. I’m hoping sleep will help, but there’s still a few hours before bedtime.

    Ouch @Pat E.  Hope that eases soon.   Thanks but no cakes here at the mo and low carbs so savoury egg dishes for the main.  One dessert a week on Sundays.

    We have a thick and very cold mist here so pottering indoors for now tho I need to go and buy more chook feed later on.

    Keep warm everyone.  Stay safe.

    Hi all

    Dreich. Snow has nearly melted now.
    We have a severe weather warning in place for 48 hours from tomorrow, high risk of flooding. Having a stream is lovely, but that is the down side.

    Afternoon all,

    Blimey this morning has flown! Back to wet and windy today. At least the temperatures are in the positives (just).

    Good work @Desi_in_London :) Always good to set yourself goals. I'm after doing a sub 25 min 5k by July and being able to get round the GNR in September (any time will do ;)) but I'm a way off at the moment :o

    Right, that's enough hsewk for one day ..., our bedroom has been dusted, de-cobwebbed, hoovered etc and the silver pots and bits and pieces have been polished.  My Gardening Granny left me lots of silver bits and bobs  because for some reason she thought I liked polishing it ... actually I know why she thought that ... when we visited her Ma used to get me to polish it as granny somehow seemed not to notice that it needed doing.  Of course, Uncle got all the good bits ... mine is all plate.

    @punkdoc ((hugs))

  • Afternoon all,

    Had an unexpectedly busy morning after my idyllic Sunday, but all good. For some reason I had a whole pile of requests for takeaway Fish & Chips this lunchtime. It's no hardship to do so I got myself organised and got down to CdG to do it, including adding it onto FB and adding in the option of a Cream tea, again a surprising amount of takers. Anyway, all done now everyone happy, I have another 6 booked for tomorrow lunch too so that will finish off the leftovers, wastage being my biggest nemesis.  :p

    Your new home sounds lovely @Busy-Lizzie, especially the stream. I was thinking about the lady we bought this house from yesterday, she was heartbroken to leave it, they had to leave because it was too big to manage, her husband was much older too and wanted to be nearer his grandchildren. Best to go whilst you have a choice in the matter and can find something that really suits your needs.

    Well done on signing up to the Couch to 5k @Desi_in_London , I heard someone talking about it on the radio before Christmas and she said she couldn't believe how much she had enjoyed the training program.

    Sorry to hear your news @punkdoc , a very unfortunate sounding situation for all involved. :(

    One of my vacation jobs when I was at college @Dovefromabove was in a corporate 'canteen'. I mostly worked in either the Directors restaurant or the Senior Management one, every Friday afternoon we had to polish mountains of silver, we had a special dunking contraption too, full of boiling water for the bigger pieces, I can't remember what we called it now, it wasn't the best end to a working week.  :p

    The weather is still clear but cold, I am going to spend the rest of the afternoon in the garden. I've made a big batch of soup for later, spicy roasted red pepper and tomato. Much needed later I think.
