    Happy New Year everyone🥂🎉🥂

Anybody made any resolutions? I just have. I'm going to throw away all my pants that have holes just starting in the seams. Put my finger through 2 pairs this morning🤣

    Good Morning LB & Topbird,
LB sorry you had a broken nights sleep, your turkey broth will go down well today, do you still have snow?
Topbird No resolutions made, but yours is a good one and I will apply that to pants and socks 👍
    Have a good day everyone.

Happy New Year T'Bird and Rosie. That is a good resolution to have T'Bird. I did that knicker drawer clear out job in the lockdown last year but I am resolved to hire a small skip and clear all the junk out of the garage. It takes on more and more the appearance of a junk yard. I have an old pallet in there which I'm going to offer to my adjoining neighbour for her chiminea. The rest are gazillions of empty plant pots, the broken obelisk I replaced last year, old bird feeders and some old staging from my original greenhouse. I'm sure I will be able to find loads more 'stuff' too. I would normally be able to take these to the tip but I'm hesitant about going there these days and as it requires some stuff being broken up to fit into my car, a skip seems to be the answer.

    Afternoon all,

Had a remarkable sleep last night - I think I actually clocked 8 unbroken hours! Must be the first time in years.

No back twinges yet either today so I've had a fettle in the garden. Some good soil preparation in readiness for the warmer months ahead. Still traces of the ice and snow and the horse manure had a few solid, frozen bits in it but a satisfactory little stint.

Unfortunately, the start of January also means that the tax return is due at the end of the month :( Time to find the log-in detail for the government gateway site :o

Biglad it’s still quite crispy underfoot here, but on its last legs and should clear unless more forecast.  I’m glad you slept.  LB I’ve been doing some paperwork and have made a cup of tea and having a farerro and a rest with Alfie.  Topbird I’ve had to part company with some socks.  Chive I’ve been in contact with my sister and she’s been cleaning and de cluttering and taken the trimmings down as a fresh start.

Afties all. Glad that the run hasn't affected your back Biglad. Chive, the snow is just about gone now but the forecast is for seriously low temperatures tonight. Glad you had a nice walk today Hazel but sorry about the rain. Its nice for you and your Mum that you are getting facetime. Better warn 23 that the Elf might not feel too happy having his nose pushed out by a sloth.
Next job, get the new calendar up and running.

Good afternoon everyone and a Happy New Year to you all. Let us hope 2021 is a better year than last.
A very hard frost here today, slow to clear but it looked very pretty.  A flock of 17 goldfinches just now feeding on the seedheads. A new blackbird has claimed my back garden as his, he is very striking with half of his tail pure white. Put out a bruised pear for him which he is loving. The bird feeders are busy with coal and blue tits, sparrows and a lone yellow wagtail eating the spillage from the floor.I
A slow quiet awakening for us here today. The online "gatherings" were great. I'm so thankful for technology. Nice to see my brother and his wife on screen, and my niece and her girlfriend who organised it for her Dad. Not seen him since February though we do have a chat on the phone occasionally. My daughter was chatting with her old Uni friends, spread far and wide across the country. Most of them have stayed with us over the years, they all wanted to say hi to me and more importantly the dog. We  watched her Spanish friend try and eat 12 grapes before the last gong as it's a tradition apparently.
We are heading out for a walk now. Hopefully help clear our heads. I opened a bottle of champagne we've had in the house for years, it was unpleasant as it was so dry, so daughter turned it into a delicious cocktail with the addition of sherry, pomegranate juice, Merlot wine and dry ginger ale. A drink that is now going to be a New Year tradition, but with a bottle of Cava instead.
I love the talk of clearouts, pant drawers and sheds. Our shed is in need of a clear but the lawn is too soggy to put stuff on. Nice to see the snowdrops l planted in the lawn last spring showing through, and the little  tricolour crocus too.
