I buy all my seeds from EBay,  Premier Seed, Just Seed and Seed Direct. What is the problem with that?  They’re always fresh, long dates, germinate well and grow in ok.

You're not exporting them to Europe so you're not risking the transmission of pathogens @Lyn

The controls will also work the other way and imports from Europe can be controlled.  Allegedly the EU stopped the UK from banning the importation of ash trees despite the knowledge about ash die back.

Pity it won’t  include Chinese  rubbish which if the real culprit.

Nobody has to order from China tho and I don't understand anyone buying seed from there.

  • I believe quite a lot of the Chinese seed was unsolicited, @Obelixx, and therefore much more difficult to control.

This year yes, @Liriodendron but how often have we had queries on here for people ordering seeds for blue begonias or some such nonsense and wondering what to do with the results.

I ordered mine a while ago from Moles and I received a wonderful reply to my query if they knew how things would change.. it was "After 31st December: ???????????  Worst case scenario is no seed movement between UK and EU but I am hoping sense will prevail at some point, although when politicians are involved who knows what mess can occur" Sums it up pretty well I think.
I hope they sort this out fairly soon but I fear it may take some time, The EU had just changed it's import rules as well, it used to be that one could import most seeds from outside the EU, only certain countries and certain seeds were excluded, now you can't. Which lead to some wonderful things like it being illegal to carry a potato or an onion from Norway to Sweden.

It's actually going to be a real pain for me, I'm small commercial and Denmark has no seed companies that deal in bulk. you have to order from Germany, Sweden or up until now the UK. I don't read German!

@Skandi - I posted the same news on the A4A forum and have been recommended to try these people in future - https://www.organicseeds.eu/  and https://tuinzaden.eu/en/  and these for flowering plants - https://www.jelitto.com/

    Looks good to me.
