  • I was a bit confused for a bit there till I realized I was logged out for some reason.
@Busy-Lizzie you have worked so hard these last few months I hope your move is glitch free and you can relax a bit more in the new year.
In case I don't remember later happy new year to you all. Fingers crossed for a better 2021 for everyone.

@Busy-Lizzie   So young for you to be a widow with perhaps teenage children.  Difficult. I understand you have met someone to continue your path in life with.  My husband was 55 - from cancer, and I too, have met someone.
I hope you have a pleasant evening tonight.  We've already toasted the New Year in - it was New Year in NZ at midday here.  So we raised a glass!!

Have just opened a bottle of English sparkling, so would love you all to join me in raising a glass, virtual or otherwise.
    Stay safe.

I want to send a special shout out to an old colleague of mine Prof. Hugh Montgomery, for saying what should have been said a long time ago.

Happy new year to all forkers and indeed all forum members-- and wishing you all a much better 2021 than your 2020 has been ( even if you happen to be one of that rare breed for whom 2020 was okay)
On reflection, I may fit into that minority @Desi_in_London. Although I lost a work contract and didn't have a job (or government support :( ) for 9 months, I had enough savings to survive. My family hasn't suffered any major trauma during 2020 so I count my blessings. So many on this forum (and in general) have suffered in many different ways, whether Covid-related or otherwise.

I hope that you all find solace, hope and happiness in the coming year.

Raising, not a glass, but a cup of coffee, as no alcohol allowed for me. Same sentiments tho.

  • @Biglad ... well said. While  I have had various similar things to deal with job-wise , I am very conscious of how I am still in the lucky few. (Virtual) glass raised to toast all on here.

I'm pleased to say that the salmon en croute went down very well, especially with a glass of fizz, so thanks @Obelixx and @Dovefromabove for your advice.
