Hello all, had problems with Internet today, it disappeared this morning and has been intermittent since. Phone is on the blink too, hope they come to repair the line tomorrow.

I hope they let punkdoc's mother stay in hospital until she is more able to cope. What a worry.

I know an Eloi, friend of Son 1.

Daughter 2's husband turned up this morning. He had been to a local hospital to demonstrate medical equipment. He packed a load of her stuff into his car and dismantled more of the train layout, track and mountains. He ended up staying for lunch as his afternoon demonstration in Bordeaux had been cancelled. Good thing I'd made some soup, butternut, sweet potato, carrot and onion. I had some eggs and a big mushroom so I made a mushroom, cheese and parsley omelette.

Then this afternoon the electrician turned up. He'd removed 2 cast iron chandeliers yesterday, which I'm giving to Son 2, but he'd forgotten the thingies you screw the lightbulbs into which have to be there for the new owners. Me too, as it wasn't convenient going upstairs last night with no stair well light. After he'd gone I swept out the horse food and tack shed.

Good to have some company @Busy-Lizzie. Have you nearly finished the clearing up now?

Hello @Lizzie27, I haven't yet started on the kitchen or utility room. But the bulky stuff is all dealt with. One outbuilding left to sweep, but it's clear.

  • Good morning everyone.  I have already been out for a walk, down the lane to the river and back. It is about 1.75 miles. Feeling refreshed now. I hope you all have a good day.🙂
  • Good morning all 😊 ☕️
that sounds lovely @Fritillary ... I love the countryside in the early morning ... not quite as beautiful here unless we go down to the marshes and it’s very wet there at the moment ... high spring tides are affecting watercourses inland this week. OH says he heard a tawny owl calling close by last night ... but I was sound asleep and missed it 😢

Wow @Fritillary ( and hello) -- early start for you ! Feels chilly but I can see a nice stripe of red and blue sky currently so will try the same. @Busy-Lizzie you have very definitely been doing justice to your  busy name !  Hope the weather was better for you @Pat E Good day all.
edit to add : morning Dove , posted concurrently so missed the fact you were up.

  • @Dovefromabove Yes it was lovely. I heard a tawny owl 🦉 calling when I was out as well. One night we had one in the large willow tree in the garden calling and one replying from further away. We also get a barn owl sitting in the rafters in one of the barns. There is white poo splashed  on the concrete floor and quite often pellets. 🙂
  • @Fritillary 😊 🦉 we’re lucky here because although we’re right on the edge of the city this area was built on old orchards in the 60s and it’s surrounded by old oak and ash woodland ... 100m from our front door is an area of mediaeval chalk mines in mature woodland and the ‘caves’ are the homes of several species of bats. Just over ‘the rise’ is the river Yare and an area of marsh and grazing which is linked to the Norfolk Broads and is a nature reserve ... so although we look a bit ‘suburban’ we have lots of wildlife 😊
