Are you back with ex OH @D0rdogne_Damsel, that's your old place?

Spent ages on the phone with Orange this morning. Phone was on the blink, bought a new one, worked for a couple of days now has the same problem as the old one. Rings twice then stops. They are sending me a new wire with a phone plug on it. New phone just had a wire with a little plastic thing on it so couldn't plug it into the phone socket. If that doesn't work they will send a man.

  • In answer to your question @Busy-Lizzie, yes we're giving it another go. He'd been a star thru the 1st lockdown, a real friend just when one was needed. I came to stay for the lockdown, I was so ill and fed up, it was a bit of a lifesaver being here with the garden again. We've continued to stay friends, it's been 7 months and he's not put a foot wrong. We had a long chat quite recently and agreed to try again. Strict ground rules though, so far so good. He's mellowed so much in 4 years and I think realised how much he missed me. Financial independence has really helped the situation too, I'm in control. We'll see how it goes. Getting too old to mess about looking for Mr. Perfect. Better the devil you know. 😅 And I get to play in two gardens. 😁

I hope the phone thing sorts itself out. I did have a similar problem at one point, apparently it was rain related. 🥺

    Steady on @Busy-Lizzie..... :D
@D0rdogne_Damsel. I gave my ex another chance, and was prepared to put everything in a box and lock it away, but when he told my older daughter Daddy 'was never leaving again' and then went three weeks later, that was it for me. I could have forgiven everything else, but I couldn't forgive him breaking his promise to a wee girl who was already struggling with it all.
I've managed to get my clematis in. Had to laugh - it's in the raised bed below the birdcage feeders, and while I was digging the hole, the little mouse appeared from the ivy behind it, for some grub. Quite unfazed by me digging, a foot away from him  :D

I hope it works out this time then @D0rdogne_Damsel, maybe it took leaving him for him to realise how he'd behaved. I expect you've changed too, having had to buy a property and start a business in a foreign land with no money. You've done incredibly well.

I've been sweeping leaves again and scraping moss off the shady area of the kitchen terrace. Cloudy today, mild but no wind and the washing wasn't quite dry.

  • That must have been an awful experience for your daughter @Fairygirl, and you too - trust issues for life.  :'(  Stick with the wild life, it safer.  ;)

We can just see how it turns out but with the stress and awfulness of this year and having got through it without a cross word I'm hoping we can just settle down to a comfortable old age together. And we both adore Charlie (most of the time anyway  ;) so at least we're both working to make sure he is the best he can possibly be.

I've had the bonfire on all day burning leaves, with seven walnut trees alone, nevermind the rest it is a ongoing and thankless task @Busy-Lizzie:/

Homemade lasagne tonight, just having a little vermouth apero to get my tastebuds ready.  :)

    Have a good evening all.

You are lucky having a bonfire @D0rdogne_Damsel, my Mairie told me bonfires are forbidden, one of Macron's anti-pollution laws. I know a couple of people who had permission from their Mairie's.

I’m back inside after taking Pixel for her last walkies outside. In Canberra, she’s not allowed outside at all, so she has enjoyed nibbling at grass stems and digging in my garden. 😃 The reason our son doesn’t let her out, is that years ago when she was young he came come one day and she was calmly sitting in the middle the road while cars had to dodge around her. No road sense at all. That was her last experience of living near traffic. 😳
This morning after our usual excursion, she spotted one of the large skinks laying in the sun and was transfixed.  She’s still hanging around the back door watching through the glass for it to appear again and making little mewling noises. Lucky we are taking her home today.

DD, I have to admire you’re attempts to set up a look life for you and Charlie. It’ll all be worth it in the end, I’m sure.

Best wishes to all for a good night.

Try “good” instead of “look”.  Darned spell checker takes over very quickly if I’m not careful.

    Morning all/afties @Pat E:)
Another hideous event, in Vienna this time. What a mess the world's in. I despair of humans. I'll stick to the wildlife indeed @D0rdogne_Damsel - much more dependable and better behaved.
Another wet, windy cold start here. Supposed to clear up later though. Not sure what I'll get up to, but I'm doing a wee roof for the other birdcage so probably that. Managed to get away with an almost dry walk yesterday, so perhaps I'll be lucky again today.
Forum seems a bit quiet these days too.
