Hello everyone. Hope you're all OK and managing to keep busy. Very carefully avoiding all news progs at the mo as they don't help at all with the "trying to stay positive" thing we have going on here. No point moaning and crying about what we can't fix. Just have to get thru it as best we can.
Takeaway cakes and fish and chips should help you clear your stock and keep you busy @D0rdogne_Damsel and yes, real gardeners know autumn is the start of the gardening year, not the end. Best time to plant, move and divide nearly everything except grasses and late performers such as Michaelmas daisies which are better done in spring.
Rubbish sleep last night as I have been bitten - 3 great itchy lumps on my torso, one on my shoulder and 3 on my leg. Anti-histamines and creams not helping much. That means weekly SM run this pm when I've had a post lunch coffee. Have decided to eat the freezers but still need basics like toiletries and pet food and then milk and fresh fruit and green veg while we wait for more broccoli spears to grow and the PSB and cavolo nero to get to eating size.
Bright and sunny here but unlikely to get any gardening done today. I'm assuming lockdown has put paid to bonfires and fireworks displays but stay safe and keep pets in anyway, just in case.

DesiderataGo placidly amid the noise and haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible without surrenderbe on good terms with all persons.Speak your truth quietly and clearly;and listen to others, even the dull and the ignorant;they too have their story.Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit. If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain and bitter;for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.Keep interested in your own career, however humble;it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.Exercise caution in your business affairs;for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is;many persons strive for high ideals;and everywhere life is full of heroism.Be yourself.Especially, do not feign affection.Neither be cynical about love;for in the face of all aridity and disenchantmentit is as perennial as the grass.Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth.Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.Beyond a wholesome discipline,be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe,no less than the trees and the stars;you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you,no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. Therefore be at peace with God,whatever you conceive Him to be,and whatever your labors and aspirations,in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul. With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams,it is still a beautiful world.Be cheerful.Strive to be happy.Max Ehrmann, Desiderata, Copyright 1952.

Thanks for sharing the photo of your son @DOrdogne_Damsel, they do grow up so fast. My 12 yr old grandson is now taller than me and also has 'hollow leg' syndrome.
I've always liked that Desiderata, Dove, I used to have a copy in a picture frame somewhere. Not sure where it is now. Great shame about your son's situation, could he not register as non-employed now? I've done a quick bit of leaf clearing in the courtyard so I don't slip on them. More to do this afternoon as it's still sunny. A large SM delivery has just been packed away including daughter's vegetarian choices, 2 bottles of fizz for OH's birthday and 20 bottles of beer on special offer. That's them sorted.
We're quite relaxed about the lockdown as it won't make much difference to our usual routine, just have to get on with it. Hopefully it will soon be over - or maybe not.
I have also had awful bites this last couple of weeks @Obelixx, two on my foot were like puncture wounds, very red and itchy. They only thing that helps these kind of bites I have found is Fucidin cream. My GP lets me keep a tube now after she saw the bad bites last year.
Bit more digging/tidying/transplanting earlier then got ready to go for a run but was stopped by the delivery chap. I'm afraid that I got giddy with the offer of a job and succumbed to a You Garden offer
Got the contents of a bucket of water to deal with later/in the morning How long is ideal to soak bare roots before potting up?
