Good morning all. Hi @Pat E. Bright sunshine again today and 13C expected but probably no walkies for me this pm as I have to do the SM raid. Too late this am cos I've been lazing about reading.
I have found some broad bean seeds from last year to sow tomorrow. Do I need to pre-germinate them to check viability or will they be OK and why do they put so many in a packet for domestic consumption?
Haven't seen any news or UK weather so I hope everyone gets some sunshine sooner than later and yes, @Dovefromabove, hats off to all social workers doing a difficult job in more than usually trying circumstances. Key workers too.

@Obelixx I’d just plant the broad beans straight away ... maybe a bit closer so if some don’t germinate it’ll still be ok and if they do you can transplant them. They put a lot in the packet cos they’re so delicious ... why wouldn’t anyone want to grow lots and lots of them 😋

Late start as two friends rang for long chats then OH rang.
It's sunny, no frost, a bit milder. I'll dig up some more bits of plants today for me and daughters. Plenty to go round for us and the buyers.
I've found that broad bean seeds, and runner beans, will germinate 4 or 5 years after their sow by date.
