Oh 'eck @Allotment Boy. What a pain. There was a bloke on the radio yesterday helping people with the problems regarding the different areas/tiers. You can get info on the news sites if you put your postcode in. I find it very confusing [different situation up here] but he explained how it can work if you go into different areas from your own, so it might be worth having a look
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

Very late on parade today, been very busy this week, wish I believe it was achieving something. Now looks certain, we will move to Tier 3 sometime next week.
First Redwings of the year are currently raiding the Yew berries.
Bare root Wallfowers arrived this morning, bit of a pain, they are to go into pots with the Tulips, but the pots are still full of summer stuff.
How can you lie there and think of England When you don't even know who's in the team
There's a thread about tiers on A4A @punkdoc with all sorts of puns such as "tiers before bedtime". No-one seems very hopeful about it working while there are pirrocks about ignoring all safety, hygiene and distancing advice.
I never seem to think of wallflowers. Maybe I should - if I can find seeds for some of the rich coloured ones. really don't like the brassy yellows and oranges.
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

Been baking autumnal cakes, apple & caramel muffins and Mary Berry's Cinnamon and Apple Cake, we've got an autumn fair going on in the public gardens down below us, so we're trying to keep in the theme. Also managed a little potter around the garden to take some pics after a few days of tidying up.

I like a bit of brazen, in yer face orange, but haven't grow wallflowers, so maybe I should have a look at them. The Helenium I have in the hotter border has been superb this year though, and is still performing well. I split it a while ago , so I have two good clumps, and I might do another for a spot near the back door so that I can see it on dank miserable days. I like your combo with the sedum @D0rdogne_Damsel. I think a blast of colour for this time of year is very welcome. A nice shocker of an Acer would be good there too is your conditions would suit. I took some pix the other day [on the camera thread] when I was out for a walk. The foliage colours just now are great. Hideous reports from France re that murder. They can call it whatever they like, but murder is exactly what it is. It all seems a bit negative for you @punkdoc. At least the birds offer some respite, but pretty depressing. Do you feel there's no progress? I'm avoiding the farm lanes, and that's where I would see the redwings. They flock in those fields, but don't come into the gardens. We get the odd fieldfare now and again though. Fingers crossed it'll get quieter as it gets colder, and better.

Afternoon folks, Have been out in the garden all morning sorting out the new rose arch. Its now in place and looking good. Tomorrow we will be putting the obelisks back together again so that I can use them elsewhere. Think a fox has fallen to the pond as a couple of the stones had slid in and the pump disturbed. There were also a few plants on the side where he had got out. I wish we could get our wildlife camera to work. So much goes on at night and I would love to see the action.
Merri has had her appt at the consultants and they are going to take more scans and xrays before deciding what to do. They are trying to avoid an operation. In the meantime she is going to physio.
Garden looking good DD. Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend.
I found out this morning that Ryanair have cancelled all their winter flights from next week. OH wanted to come back before the end of the month. The earliest flight he could find is with Easyjet towards the end of November - that's if it isn't cancelled too. They have been cancelling flights as well.
Daughter 1's French husband has just tested negative for Covid - phew!
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
That sounds hopeful @Yviestevie, re the little 'un. Probably nicer too if it doesn't involve an operation. I'm a great believer in physio, after getting mine for the shoulder injury. Sounds like it could be a fox - or maybe something more exotic I heard that about the flights @Busy-Lizzie. Is there no other way OH can get there? It isn't great though with the travel arrangements to go anywhere I suppose. I've done sod all today. I thought I deserved a day off. My new 'birthday clems' can be planted tomorrow. They look good.

What a flipping nuisance @Busy-Lizzie - is there no other way for him to travel to you? Train? Better news about the negative test though.
@Yviestevie, have you decided which roses you are going to have on your new rose arch? We'll need pics next year. Speaking of which, I found a primrose in the garden this afternoon, I think I have taken a photo on my new phone but will have to read the manual online to find out how to post it on here.
Had our flu jobs this morning, very well organised and quick, several marshalls, in one door and out the other, no waiting, all done in under 5 minutes. I haven't had one for 3-4 years as I usually have a very bad skin reaction lasting days so am a little apprehensive. Paracetamol and ice packs are at the ready!

@Dordogne_Damsel, your flower/garden pics are gorgeous.
