Thanks for the sympanthy folks ... it probably serves me right for putting said 'very hard object' by the back door for OH to pick up and tidy away in the garage for the winter ... and then walking into it I expect I'll survive

Hi all ... just had a lovely phone chat with @Hostafan1 ... he sends his love and thanks to everyone for their kind wishes ... he's ok but still feeling a bit 'post op' and his voice is very croaky.

Phew, just finished reading a huge tome (720 pages!) on the life of Edward 111. It's taken me nearly a month to get through it at a couple of hours per day. A very good scholarly book, a bit dry but interesting.
Pleased to hear Hosta's doing okay'ish after his op, thanks, Dove for letting us know.
It's been dryer than anticipated here so did more leaf clearing this morning. I quite often find a big bruise but have absolutely no recollection of hitting anything, I think we bruise more easily the older we get.
Thanks for letting us know @Dovefromabove. I've always bruised easily @Lizzie27- the drawback of a very physical job when I was younger Managed a little bit of tidying outdoors when the rain went off. I still had a pot of [Cupani] sweet peas, but they're getting so battered with the wind every day here, that I decided to chop them when I had the chance. The last of them is now in a little vase in the kitchen. Hacked back some of the wild rocket too, which is always a bit sad, but it's rampant. No bees around to enjoy it anyway, and it was swamping some other things. Still plenty of colour in the hot bed though.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Hi folks, I'm with you @steephill no idea what that cage is, perhaps Dove will enlighten us.
I've been looking after Jonah for Secondborn today. She hadn't slept for 48 hours while looking after Gabriel in hospital. Dad is looking after him now so she can have a nights sleep. While Grandad sat with Jonah she went for a nap followed by a shower and I went and did a supermarket shop for her. Still don't know when Gabriel will be allowed home but they are adding a steroid inhaler to his home medication to try and get it under control. May have to go over again tomorrow for a few hours. Left her with flowers, prosecco and a box of chocolates to try and cheer her up a bit.
Here it is @Steephill ... I agree it’s a rather incongruous juxtaposition of ideas ... cast iron and fireflies.
I’m not sure that it would contain any firefly with any nous for long.
I rather doubt it’s authenticity 🤔
I’ve a feeling that this might have been manufactured solely to provide Aged Ps prone to shopping at Snape Maltings ‘crafty’ gift shop in Suffolk with useless gifts to give to a gardening daughter in Norfolk. 😉

Hi @Songbird-1 😊 yes, that’s how we use it ... I keep meaning to get a citronella candle for it to keep the midges away but I never think of it until we’re sitting out there ... someone please remind me next spring. 😉
