and yesterday’s Going Out clothes are in the wash.

Speaking of which ... Is it unreasonable of me to feel particularly targeted by Covid?  As a woman of sturdy build, clothes that I like for Going Out in, clothes that conform to the image of myself that I want to present to the world, have been few and far between ... but last autumn I discovered a couple of labels making clothes I like, in my size, not cheap but they had a sale on so I stocked up with a wardrobe full of outfits that I was happy with ... that meant that I felt like ‘me’ when I wore them ... all ready for summer 2020 😎 ...... I’ve not been anywhere to wear them 🙄

I quite understand why clothes retail is down and DIY retail is up @Dovefromabove.   I have neither made nor bought new stuff for this summer other than face masks and a pair of golf shorts for OH.   I did buy 2 new pairs of sandals online and have worn one pair twice and the others 5 or 6 times.   You'll still be "you" next summer.

It is grey here and damp - enough rain to settle the dust but that's all.   Should clear up and get to the mid 20s in an hour or two.    More coffee needed before I go and do some more in the chicken house.

Hope your leg behaves for your hill @Fairygirl.

Greetings to all Forkers and hope it's a good day for us all.

    I do hope so @Ob@Obelixx

Anyone here like reading poetry?  I'm pretty sure @punkdoc does .... I've just treated myself to Simon Armitage's recently published collection 'Sandettie Light Vessel Automatic' .... an absolute delight ... so glad I've got it ... a complete work of art ... he paints such vivid pictures. Get it ... don't argue, don't prevaricate and procrastinate ... just get it ... you'll be so glad you did ... it's worth it's weight in gold (and that's the hardback 😉).

    Hi everyone.

We had 3 mm rain on Thursday and 1 mm on Friday. Big deal!   We’ve been told there will be more, but we aren’t feeling too hopeful.

Not unreasonable, but you’re not alone.  Littlest Chicklet missed six months of living the Australian dream.  And my first summer of not working (after 35 years at it) was not exactly what I had planned ☹️

But wise words from @Obelixx ..... it’ll all still be there in 2021 👍🏻

    Hello all.

Very hot and heavy at son's, near Auxerre. Storms forecast.
We have just come back from yet another excellent meal in a restaurant, my third birthday present restaurant meal. It was by the river Yonne, picturesque with views of boats and an old town.
Slept badly again, think it's the heat.
Three little granddaughters are still as cute. OH thought they were very well behaved at the restaurant.

Our storms didn't materialise yesterday evening @Busy-Lizzie but this morning's shower has cleared the air and it's lovely here.   Have never been to Auxerre but have wanted to visit for a while, along with many other places.  Road trip coming on - newt year, or the year after.    Great that you've had another lovely meal in a lovely setting and with family.

I am having a quiet, pottering sort of day and have some naan bread proving for Possum's chicken curry this evening as well as a pan of oil, syrup, sugar and honey cooling to make a Jewish honey cake for Monday.    Takes ages!   Never made it before so wasn't prepared for that.

The new polyhouse is up and running! I will be pleased to house my cuttings and non hardy pots in there. It smells of Lavender in there already.

I hope everyone is enjoying the weekend. Catch you later.

Safely back indoors after an afternoon with the chainsaw, no bits missing :o Not exactly smelling of lavender,  more of sawdust and rotting timber as I was dealing with an old stump and some gnarly big beech sections. Dangerous things those chainsaws.

I think lots of people have had their lives put on hold this year, some permanently, so we need to be positive, and remember the words of one of our greatest bards @Dovefromabove -  Mr Noddy Holder.
"look to the future, it's only just begun...."   ;)
The wee hill was fine - barely counts as a hill - so I don't think my thighs will be too troubled. ;)
My heart wasn't exactly singing @chicky, but seeing the Arrochar hills, and Glasgow's 'Beacon Hill' [Ben Lomond] away in the distance made me feel more normal again.  :)

See us a wee loan of yir chainsaw @steephill. I can get you a Christmas tree cheap. Nod's as good as a wink to a blind horse, no wot I mean?  ;)
Been lovely here again. I organised the weather specially for @punkdoc for his trip. Think it's to be good tomorrow too. I might get a proper hill in the next couple of days before the rain comes back on Tuesday.
I did a bit of of PVA-ing of the big pots that the sweet peas were in yesterday and today, and got one lot of narcissus in. Been meaning to do that for a while. One pot still has some Cathy s.peas in it, so that one will have to wait.
