Morning all/afties @Pat E - glad you got a bit of the wet stuff We have a nice dry and, so far, sunny morning. @Dovefromabove and @D0rdogne_Damsel - I wouldn't bother, best ignored. Glad it's all gone well @Obelixx. It's something I haven't had to do, and I hope it won't be difficult when it comes!Â
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Just had an awkward short talk to my late daughterâs son for his 16 th birthday. Me - hi did you receive the birthday card?  Him - yes, thanks. Silence.  Me - have you had a good day? Yes ok. In the background - his father - donât forget to thank her for the generous cheque. Grandson, thanks for the cheque. Itâs in the bank. ..... after more of this painful chit chat with background hints, I wished him well and hung up. đĄđĄđĄ. What a waste of effort!  If his mother was still alive it would have been different.  đ„”đ„”
It may well have been just the same @Pat E ... itâs a well known fact that adolescent boys lose the power of conversation  when addressing adult family members .... they grow out of it, eventually.Â
Oh Pat! I can understand how hard it is for him. Boys often find it so difficult to speak in those circumstances too. I can't imagine how awful it is to lose your mum when you're so young. Being a teenager is hard enough without dealing with that loss too. Doesn't make it easier for you though  Are you getting out for a sprint today @Biglad? I'm heading out soon.

âčïž That must be upsetting for you @Pat E .....but in my experience teenage boys often become monosyllabic......hang on in there keeping contact with him, as he will emerge the other side.  (Teenage girls are just as bad, except they just become too cool for everything, and say âwhateverâ alot đ€Ł.  They, too, emerge đđ»).
Good to have you back @Obelixx đ. Â Glad the move was successfully accomplished. Â Hope Possum has a lovely relaxing time with you, and gets to quietly reinvigorate her mojo. Â
Monty Donâs new book has just arrived on my doorstep đ„ł.  Iâm joining an online thingy this evening where he chats about it.
Had a lovely walk with sisters last night. .....went round the ouse valley viaduct - breathtaking Victorian engineering, still doing the job it was built for nearly 200 years ago.
Listened to podcasts on the way back, and discovered that the great Carol Klein has filmed another of her Great British Gardens through the seasons programme. Â Due on our screens this autumn it looks at Bressingham, Coton Manor, Wollerton, Marchants, and some more that I canât recall now .....sounds like it will be a treat đ
For the 3rd coffee I brought our the big guns and used the flash coffee machine thingy! I now have a double shot latte in the garden... am dressed, have fed animals, done bird feeders and stand half a chance of staying awake for a while now. Have also made a flask with more coffee and woken brother, not easy, as he has a big job on and sleeps heavily! Whether he stays awake or not.... I've done my bit Dove đ đ Hi Pat, try not to feel annoyed, I think that's the type of conversation most of us get from 16 year old boys, he will grow out of it. And considering their interests at that age, I think we would probably rather not hear much more! x
No sprinting today @Fairygirl. Will probably go for what 'proper' runners call 'an easy run'Â It's supposed to be a longer distance at a 'comfortable pace'. Most of these terms make no sense to me but I'll plod on regardlessÂ
Got a few bits that I want to get done in the garden first, though.
Hi @Chicky didn't see you there Looks like your going on some lovely walks with sisters thanks for the heads up on Carol klein programmes! Actually speaking of TV, I've just watched a series on channel 5 catch up titled walking Britain's roman roads. Found it fascinating, might interest you Morning @Biglad If I do vigorous gardening, I let myself off the running bit! Right, off to work.Â
