Morning all/afties @Pat E. Do you get a lot of snow at this time of year?
All that food talk has instantly added 5 lbs to my waistline. Lobster sounds perfect though. Where's that 'licky lips' emoji when you need it...
Glad everyone had some lovely tucker.  :)
Surprisingly @Obelixx - young fairylet decided she 'didn't want a chocolate cake'. After picking myself up from the floor, I immediately took her temperature, as I thought she must be ill. She said she fancied the same as her sister had in July- plain sponge with cream and strawbs. The sponges were made last night before I went to the shops. I managed to forget the cream, but older fairylet went back in for it. I had some trouble with the sugar. I think it may have been damp and then dried out [new packet] and the lumps were proving impossible to break down. I had to dissolve it in a little bit of water, but the sponges seem ok. They'll taste good anyway - hopefully.
A cloudy, dampish sort of day here, but I managed to keep dry on my walk earlier. I think our more normal August temps are on the way this week, with more single fig temps overnight. Been weirdly warm.

That cake sounds wonderful @Fairygirl ... we’re not huge fans of chocolate sponge cakes ... the flourless dense soggy nutty type are another matter tho 😋

A good chap @punkdoc. He's had a tough time, but is always so positive .
Youngest is quite happy with cake on it's own - no icing - nothing.  :D

mmmm.....cake!

Been very wet here for the last few days and looks like more of the same today. Not been spending much time in the garden but the small number of pea pods that I have are starting to fatten nicely, the potato plants are still standing and strawberry runners are appearing right, left and centre.

I like French chocolate cakes, only a small amount of flour, real dark chocolate and the eggs are separated and the whites whisked like meringue. More like cooked chocolate mousse
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
