Same thing happened at my daughters, she’s a child minder and old man over the road set his camera up on the garden, when questioned by my SIL he said he’d put it up to keep the children safe!  SIL told him to either take it down himself, he would come over and do it for him or he would call the police, not something that happens often in some parts of Cornwall,  the camera was down in the afternoon.

Your concerns need to be reported to the police again ... and make the point that if the police do not take action you will be making a Child Protection Referral to Children’s Social Services.

Strange that the police won't do anything.  I live next to school, have cctv and i was told i couldn't have the school grounds showing in my cctv view.
  • I installed cctv earlier this year and i do think there is an issue with recording inappropriately as the recording of areas outside of your own property is contentious at least and could be challenged at the home office dept responsible for cctv regulation.  The child protection theme seems a great idea too.
  • Is there any reason that you can't install bamboo/brush  screening to your side of the fence? Its fairly lightweight and easy to put up. You can also buy trellis with plastic foliage already on it a B&M and B&Q. That should spoil his viewing!!
  • If you read the whole thread you will see they tried to mitigate but it's not the issue raised. He shouldn't be recording them 24/7 and that's the issue @nickymgarner and frankly I'd rather be recorded than have plastic "foliage" 😉

They are definitely real, he has 6 external cameras professionally fitted, with IR and audio up to 5m.  But he also has 2 internal cameras which he's plugged in and sat on his windowsils himself, he moves the internal ones to follow us around our garden.

    How horrible.

The question isn't the plants, it's illegal activity. Although I suspect that even if he is forced to remove the visible camera and audio rquipement, he sounds like the type of person that would install hidden cameras. You can get very small cameras or very easily install them so they are not visible. Hidden spyware is a booming industry.

Completely agree. We have a similar issue with our young children and someone flying a drone over the garden. Fortunately, as others have suggested, you (hopefully) have a route to resolve this via child protection laws. I would also block the view though, in case he goes down the hidden camera route. Have you used "Sarah's Law" to make enquiries?
  • Someone here who is usually right, suggested a laser pen?

Here in Ireland I would do the same as with eg noise nuisance; it costs E20 and no solicitor needed to take court action. I never had to go that far as the formal warning letter you have to send first always stopped it.

There were and are so many "neighbour disputes" over here they print special booklets.

    He needs ********* and worse.
