Is moving an option? A man who enjoys watching and spying on people like this is almost certainly some kind of deviant. I very much doubt any kind of counter measures would dissuade him. He might even get a bigger thrill out of it. I feel very disgusted for you.

I bet a court case, publicity in the local paper and a heavy fine might be a dissuasion.

We have a 12ft trampoline, and we've moved it to the top of the garden close to the house as the ground is higher there, we've then balanced it on old slabs and garden furniture to make it higher again.  Then we have attached wooden washing line stretchers to the trampoline net poles with a tarpaulin attached to the wood.  So the wood and tarp sits approx 2ft above the height of the net.  So currently, our garden is a terrible mess, but at least the majority is being hidden from his cameras.  The tarpaulin can't stay though as it looks dreadful and the poor family on the other side of us are hoping to sell their house soon, so we are looking for any trees, bamboo, pergola/gazebo  ideas or anything which would give us some privacy.

Thank you everybody for your help, its much appreciated 🙂

Contact the police and your MP, as others have said. This is disgusting and completely illegal. Bring up the child protection issues with this. You could always talk to your children's school, if they're still open, as schools usually have good links to the local police and they deal with child protection often (unfortunately).

EDIT.  Just noticed you're in Scotland. Schools are opening about 10th August.

I'm so sorry you're having to deal with this.

Also. Bamboo or some very big conifers would help block him. But he needs to stop. And you need help for that.

In just two steps on the checklist it says that it seems to be a criminal matter and that you should inform the police. I would insist the police act and if they’re slow to stir their stumps I would contact my MP. He or she will be capable of giving them some tongue pie. Rope in the Police and Crime Commissioner too.

As you present it, this seems like a flagrant abuse of the CCTV system. I would not faff around with trees in bins. I would want the police to stop the issue at source.

A bit harsh of you, the OP only posted the problem a few hours ago and your already talking about reporting the police to their MP and Crime Commissioner. This will be very very low down on their list of police priorities I'm afraid, and rightly so. You clearly don't have any idea of the types of things the cops have to deal with if you think they will be able to respond urgently to a CCTV camera problem. And why should they, it sounds like the camera might have bene there for a while, yet hasn't been reported to the police in all that time. So why should they rush round straight away when called?

Personally I'd rather them be giving higher priority to those people in immediate danger, than to a CCTV camera problem.

You’ve missed the point that the OP has already been to the police and been fobbed off. I am certainly no lawyer but if a criminal offence has been committed, and not a civil one as the police officer said, then I think the police service needs to brought to account.

I personally think that healthy civilised society is all about dealing with all aspects of life.  If the police only dealt with high profile crimes then the world would be a sorry and anarchic place.  Would you be happy with doctors refusing to treat you because what you had was not instantly life threatening?   Or all the funds for museums and historic building being scrapped in favour of more roads?

Rules are rules, and the police should be pushed to do the right thing.

If we don’t report some crimes, simply because we know the police are already overburdened, how will ‘the powers that be’ count the number of crimes that have to be ignored because of lack of personnel and/or funding?

When I worked in Children’s Services, the ‘unmet need’ had to be recorded ... how else could the next year’s budget have any credibility?

I wonder what the police would say if you plaster the local lampposts with posters warning the locals that a pervert is filming their kids?
