They're a tool that I use when necessary and it's always relaxing to remove them - just like walking into dappled shade after searingly bright sunshine.
Apart from no padding on your shins, another human design fault is the absence of earlids. Noselids might be useful too in some circumstances.

Being slightly deaf and loath to use my hearing aids, I often find that what I think I heard is much more interesting than what was actually said.
    I agree totally.

There's a guy who regularly appears on archeological digs who is unable to pronounce his "R"s.  Rather like the 'singer' in Only Fools and Horses.  I don't doubt he is extremely knowledgeable but when he comes out with something like "Pwobably Pwe Woeman" I struggle to listen.

“I rank as high as any man in Rome” - well, that was what Pontius Pilate wanted to say in the Life of Brian. “Stwike him, centuwion, very woughly.”

When it was first noticeable that my youngest grandson couldn’t pronounce his ‘R’ s my daughter worked very hard on his speech, when he started school the teacher did the same, after a few years he’s absolutely fine, you wouldn’t know now that he ever spoke like that.

British tourists in France whinging about not being able to get back " in time" before tomorrow morning .
If the risk in France is enough to warrant quarantining , it should have been introduced immediately , not " 4am Saturday" .

As a literacy tutor , doubling consonants (say it aloud if you don't  get it) amused me, but it was lost on my students
My worksheets involved characters such as Iris Stew. Straight over their heads but you get amusement where you can
I never mentioned the famous Russians, Segovia Carpet and Yaputya Leftleggin, though

I always have a sensible chuckle about the cross incontinents on the radio.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

I used to have a rep selling "Babies Bockles".  Irritated me to death it did.  Don't get me started on Bron i cal balsam for chests.
